The Captain Picard figure has all the right resemblances that you'd expect in a figure for him. He comes with a rather large phaser, and a PADD. One thing I can say is that when my 7-year-old daughter popped the pad out of the packaging, it flew and landed in the carpeting of nearly the same color. We spent a good 5 minutes poking around for it, and I just know that it is something that will be easily lost. Since Picard is bald, he is left with a big hole in the top of his head for other head gear. I took the extra Borg sight and put that on him. He looks pretty rockin' with the Borg sight and the gun in a hero pose. 

Mega Construx are small figurines that have lots of joints that make them pliable and bendable into almost any position. They are meant to be used for setting up photos and making stop motion videos. The bottoms of their feet are flat and have holes that fit most Lego bricks, but they don't snap in with the same solidness as a Lego minifig. These are a little softer and tend to pop out unless you are very deliberate about placement. One thing that seems to be common among the MCX toys is that if you try to get them to stand up straight with their feet on the same Lego row, they will look pigeon-toed. Separating the feet onto separate rows gives the characters a more natural look in their stance.

Part of the fun with these figures is in how they bend, all for the benefit of being used with the Mega Construx stop-motion video app. My 7-year-old daughter and I put together a video with a few of the figures, to some great success. The app looks nice and it is designed to be easy, but it is still a complicated video editing app. My daughter wasn't able to figure it out by herself and needed me to read through the details and point out how to change all of the features. You can set the number of times to repeat each frame in relation to the number of frames per second that you want playback to occur for the entire clip. This was lost on my 7-year-old. Recording audio for each frame is easy. Attaching the audio to the frame is a bit confusing, especially if you did not name the recording. Also, it's obvious that the video clips on Mega Construx's website were professionally done. You won't get the same level of quality unless you have amazing lighting, a very steady phone or tablet, and a surefire way of keeping the figures in-place as you move them. The results are still fun, and my family chuckled at some of the videos that we made, but it had to be a team effort, and it certainly looked like we made the clip.

The toy is very well-made. All the parts snap perfectly into place. I was impressed by how functional and mobile all the parts were. The attention to detail is really good and the printing is top-notch.

The toy also comes with a base that makes it great to have as a desktop companion.

The only downside is that I wish the toy were larger. I also think some of the other toys in the Mega Construx Heroes set have more parts and accessories to customize.
