I purchased this for a visit from my 18 month old grandson.  While being a little young for it, I wanted a toy that would continue to interest him when he is in London a few times a year.  For now he plays by trying to pull the pieces apart, and by identifying the food.  In future, he can 'cut' the food apart.  It's a good quality, safe, old fashioned wood play set.

The quality wasn't as good as what I usually see with Melissa and Doug products. The Velcros don't hold very well, and the paint started chipping after the very first use
