I bought this for my 2nd grader b/c I wanted him to learn each denomination and how the coins can equal the dollars. He loves the money for the look! It's close to the real deal (paper bills). The only con is that I wished it had a lid to secure the bills & coins so that when we store it away, the contents would remain in tact. Now we just sit in on his dresser until he wants to play with it. But overall, the kids love it.

Great teaching tool

walmart.com

Our little one has a fascination with money and is enjoying learning how to identify, know the values and adding the money to come up with the total. The only thing I think would have made this money set better is if the bills were laminated or the wooden holding tray was a little bit bigger so I could laminate the bills and keep them stored in them in. The set came with a good number of bills and coins, I am very pleased with it.

Melissa %26 Doug Play Money Set

This is a great set to teach money skills, opportunity cost, budgeting and value of money. Quality bills and plastic change. The change is thick and has some weight to it, the bills are a heavier paper stock than other play money we have purchased.

Nice set to learn with.

Pleasantly surprised at the size and quality of this play set.

Super happy with purchase

Perfect for homeschooling purposes! For anyone looking for thicker bills for younger kids, these are not them, they are just like paper. coins are plastic. But I love the wooded case and they are printed wonderfully and will work well with my 7 year old!

Good buy! (bills are paper fyi)

Bought this for a gift for my son. He loves playing store with it.

Play money

Melissaanddougpwr

The money--bills and coins--are terrific. And the wooden box is great as far as it goes--nice and sturdy. However, it really is useless since it doesn't have any kind of a cover. I do personal finance workshops and carry the money with me from venue to venue. Instead of keeping the money in the wooden boxes, I had put everything into Ziplock bags in order to safely transport it.

Box needs a cover

Melissa and Doug

I would love to be able to give this product 5 stars but unfortunately when we opened it and started playing with it, we noticed that for the nickels it was actually another packet of quarters. All the other bills and coins we correct though. I made it work by putting red marker in the "nickels" to tell the difference while teaching my daughter.

Unfortunately got two packets of quarters and no nickels

If the "money" looked more real it'd be better for me. I ended up giving it to a little girl who immediately fell in love with it. To each their own!

This was exactly what I wanted to help teach our kids $ concepts. However, it included the wrong set of bills- there are no $10 and two stacks of $20. We already opened it and started using it, so I can't return it. So bummed. Otherwise, great item.
