I thought they were very comfortable straight out of the box. I wore them to the Bass Master Classic Expo in Knoxville, Tn. and covered a lot of ground during the day. Very impressed so far.

Straight Outa The Box

Over the last few days, where I live there has been snow and freezing rain and regular rain. A huge pond of water collected at the side of the house. I needed to divert the water. To do that, I had to emerse my feet in the pond. When I was finished, my feet were dry because of these boots.

Waterproof!

Right out of the box they looked nice and well made. I then swapped out the insoles for my custom made ones then put on and laced up. Upon standing up they had a nice improved feel to them, different than my old ones that are comfy but worn and no longer have the new sole feel. I have not yet tried them out on the trail yet but hope to soon! So far I am pleased with them and as in anything time will tell.

I've always bought your shoes at discount shoe stores. Did not know you made a shoe of this quality. Customer for life now.

Customer for life

Living in the Northwest during the fall and having dogs brings a number of challenges, namely rain and mud on the dog trails here in Semiahmoo.  My Merrill's have been up to the test everyday this fall and have not found a puddle or trail that they could not handle.

Over the river and thru the mud.

These shoes have been feel great on my feet right out of the box. I walk an average if 12k steps a day on NYC sidewalks for my work in all types of weather. These shoes are comfortable, protective and last longer than other shoes I've worn. An excellent purchase.

Second pair I've bought

These are surprisingly comfortable. I bought the black ones, which look a lot like work boots and not hiking boots. If that is troublesome to you, there are other nature-inspired colors.

These are ruggedly constructed and pulling the shoe strings to tighten them is effective. With some shoes, you have to work your way up the front to remove all of the slack. 

The toe and foot width are perfect for my foot with just enough space to feel good all day with no soreness. 

The soles are excellent and are not slippery on wet terrain.


The size is true to form. My feet are about as average as you can get.

The old Merrill's were tough. These remind me of that excellent quality. I haven't had them long and will update if they're not good.

Good quality and comfort

I hike daily 15 plus miles . The Merrills are buy far the most comfortable hikikers i have ever owned. The problem i have is that they delaminate on the front toe after a few months and then inevitability start to leak. The terrain and mileage i do needs a waterproof boot and once they leak ,i am done with them. Merrill has been warrantying the defects which keeps me committed. I tried a few pairs of the competitors shoe and they just aren't as comfortable and i wear them out is even less time

Good comfortable hiker

I've been buying Merrell hiking shoes and boots for a few years.  They've always been some of the most comfortable footwear in my closet. 

I'm very disappointed with the recent purchase of the Moab 3 Mid - by the end of the day these shoes cause such an intense hot-spot in both feet that I have to switch back to my old, and still very comfortable Thermo Overlook 2 Mid hiking boots.

Sent mine back. It was uncomfortable and the arch of the boot pressed against the side of my foot. Very disappointed since I liked my last pair of boots.
