So far so good!  Some saw dust on the rail on the side causes it to slide harder than usual.  Looking into what kind of lubricant to be used that won't build up of dust making it slide bad.  Love the front slide though!  Saves room in my shop and is why I bought it over others in the first place.

Metabo isn't a brand I'd been aware of, but I'm so thankful to have come across write-ups on this saw's Hitachi predecessor, and the cult following it developed.

Cut accuracy is exceptional, and the gripes you hear about the laser being obscured during the cut is smoke blown by folks who don't appreciate the need to set up a cut right, and commit.

High precision 12" saw, requiring minimal backside clearance at a fair price. Well done, Hitachi / Metabo.

Everything it should be

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you are looking for a solid build and accurate. The price is also among the cheapest at this quality level. If you need a 12" sliding space saver miter saw, pretty much one of the very few choices available on the market today

Accurate cuts every time plus a great space saver

Get the laser! This is a great saw. It feels very well made and the laser is a game changer. If your on the fence about getting this brand or another; know this saw is a robust beast that makes quick work of any project. The laser is far more helpful than I thought it would be. Highly recommend!

Get the laser miter you will be very happy!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just received saw via UPS last week.  I replaced stock blade with a better quality blade and checked all adjustments. All components are square and true. My disappointment is with guard behind the fence.  Clearance on the right side of blade was barely 1/16", while the clearance on the left side was almost 5/16". I wasn't comfortable cutting into guard that isn't centered a bit better.  I removed guard.  I won't be using the saw until spring, but I am confident that it will work fine.  I reached out to Metabo through their contact page, but have not heard back.  Put all of it together and its a mixed bag of good and bad.

Mixed Bag

Upgraded to this saw and boy what a difference. Cut perfectly right out of the box. Such smooth, precise cuts and I haven't even changed the blade yet. The handle location and direction seem much more natural and I got used to it quickly.  I like that the sliding mechanism is on the side, allowing me to push the saw almost all the way to the wall. The saw does seem to create way more mess than I would expect. The dust bag is useless. Attached dust port directly to my shop vac which helps a little, but I still have a pretty big mess by the end of the day.

Much needed upgrade

New Delivery Quality, not good, I opened the box and the bevel adjustment handle was loose, and the 12" saw blade assembly had broken up the gray plastic piece used for first time saw. There was scratches on the base, this kind of thing should have never happened!

Quality in Question

I love the saw but do think Metabo should create space to locate onboard tools such as the Vice-Assembly w/knob bolt. It uses angle friction to hold in place when securing a piece of wood to be cut but when not in use it seems forever in the way. Tool storage for this somewhere on the saw would not be difficult to engineer some space for this to be located. Outside of this small issue, I love the saw!

Powerful, quiet and fairly light for a 12' saw

So far this saw has been great. It make clean and accurate cuts with a variety of blades. The sliding mechanism is very smooth and the fence is square and solid. The only thing I would change is I would replace the laser with a drop shadow cut indicator.

Great saw at a solid price

The 12" sliding dual compound miter saw is a nice addition to my home shop . It cuts with ease. I like the laser site it makes cutting accurately easy. With the slide on the side it fit in a smaller spot on my bench. The only thing I would try to improve would be the dust collection. This saw makes heals of saw dust. But a good saw for sure

Less than 50 cuts and blade brake doesn't work and saw stops before completing cut on every size and type of wood. Difficult to find warranty repair service and to get repairs completed.
