I had owned a Hitachi 3x21 Sander, which served me well, but I didn't notice any Hitachi brand tools for sale for a long period of time. When I read a little of the history about the merging of the German company and The Hitachi Brand I decided to try the 18v Metabo HPT DS18 DEX drill driver. Excellent choice, very happy with the performance and the quality.

Brand Revision

metabo-hpt.com

Came in the kit with the impact driver. I always bought the biggest drill available and usually drill 3/8” holes or less most of the time. It's my go to for most jobs because of the compact size. It has a metal chuck. You do have to make sure you tighten it or it will loosen the bit because of the brake slamming it when you let off the trigger. The anti kickback works but it's more like an overload stop. It will save your wrist. It's quieter than my other brand drill but not as quiet as I hoped. Don't really notice it when working with it though. I read that the lifetime warranty is only good for as long as the tool is made. If true it's a little deceiving but oh well. Only one of the brands I have covers the charger and the battery

Compact and powerful

Great Drill/Driver. First time owning one and it will be very useful. Quality is great.

Great Drill/Driver

This new drill replaces a Hitachi drill that I've almost worn out. I really like the brand and they have worked very well for me.

Great tools

A very high quality drill and I already own several Bosch, Dewalt and Milwaukee cordless drills. Very well satisfied with the balance of it and with the weight. I have a Metabo 18 ga nailer and I love that. So I was inclined to begin trying their other products.

Great high quality drill/driver.

This is my first Metabo tool, a cordless drill/driver. It's solid and feels great in the hand and just simply feels "solid". I use my purchase for home maintenance so I need a multi-functional tool to replace my 23 year old Bosch. This metabo tool performs exactly as I need. It's a keeper.

My first Metabo tool.

Very high quality construction. I appreciate that the chicken is metal and not plastic. 1 big battery would have been more useful than 2 2 amp batteries but I am overall happy for my purchase.

Metabo Drill

Very good product. Im impressed on the quality of the tools. Not so much on the small battery life.

Good product

This drill is ALMOST perfect. Plenty of power and ergonomics are some of the best (in my opinion), but when using hole saws (nothing larger than 2 inches) and some larger bits, the chuck worked loose and actually dropped the bit even after tightening. Annoying and a little disappointing.

Nearly perfect

This drill is part of a drill driver kit . The chuck will not stay tight on drill bits . Tried with 1/4 and 3/8 bits after drilling two to four holes the chuck would get loose when on higher speed, tried on lower speed it did better but still loosened up after awhile .

Chuck will not stay tight
