So far havent used it on the project i wanted it for yet but tried a few different things to get an idea of how it works and its awesome!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My friend and I are in the middle of a complete teardown and renovation of a single wide trailer home. Needless to say I will be doing a lot of drywall and cutting a lot with this tool, so I wanted something I knew I could depend on to get the job done with as little fuss as possible. Drywall isn't my forte but at least I know I've got the right tool for the job.

The two bits that come with this tool, while they aren't the kind I would prefer for following the inside of outlet boxes and light fixtures, they are high quality bits and eat through the practice scraps of drywall I have laying around like nothing. The tool is very efficient on battery life thanks to the brushless motor, even with the smaller 18v batteries. Being able to use the smaller batteries without worrying about having to go swap them on the charger keeps this tool light enough to be able to use the included belt clip without the tool dragging my pants or belt down. It also makes the tool much more balanced as the 2AH batteries are very light. This means I can do horizontal cuts without too much effort spent towards keeping the tool oriented correctly. 

Very thoughtful they included a 1/4" collet for the larger door and window bits. The included wrench is also painted, instead of powder coated, which makes it easier on the hands. Especially important when dealing with drywall which sucks the moisture right out of your skin.

Motor only got slightly warm after some very extended use. Very much so an all day tool. Wouldn't think twice about cutting all day with it.

The brake and the light are a nice touch as well. Overall very impressed with this cutout tool. Admittedly not my most used tool, but definitely very glad I have a quality one in case I ever find myself doing more drywall work in the future!

Very nice

I bought this tool when doing some drywall work on a recent renovation.  It was easy to use and cut down on the dust as compared to a keyhole saw for outlets.  I do wish there was a place to store the chuck tool.  Otherwise, I high recommend the tool.

Great Tool! Easy to Use

These are extremely handy tools. It's the type of tool that no other tool can do the job. I had a corded version but was so happy to see when Metabo HPT came out with a cordless version. I never use my cordless anymore. The battery makes it so much quicker and easier to use. Love it!

Just used it yoday

Metabo HPT reach out to me and offered me this awesome Cordless Drywall Cutout tool to test out and I absolutely beat the snot out of it and it held up. It is very well balanced, much lighter then the previous Drywall Cutout Tool I was using, fast, the built in light is great for darker areas and the hook is a great add on to clip on and off the tool belt. Overall I give it a 4.9/5

Light and powerful

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] used this cut out tool to cut in some can light and it didn't disappoint at all, the body of the tool is prefect for my hands really like the weight and size. Can't wait to use this tool again in the next couple weeks

Compact and powerful

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This tool is great! It's super lightweight, plenty of power, and very fast. I used it for cutting out outlets and cutting pieces flush at the corner. Did it's job with no problems. The depth adjustment is very easy to use, the light works best with the depth adjustment at full extension. And the belt hook is is super helpful! Overall this tool is pretty straightforward, but works great! I hope to see this paired with a screw gun in a kit at some point.

Lightweight and powerful!

18v drywall cutout tool

I had the opportunity of using this tool for some recent jobs.  As a residential and commercial general contractor, I found this tool to be quite useful.  Keep in mind, this is a drywall cutting tool, not a router or a multi-tool.  It was designed for a specific purpose and does not deviate far from that purpose.  But, you don't know unless you try.   I did find it useful for cutting acoustical ceiling tiles, frp panels and even cutting out a floor outlet box in lvp flooring. 

Pros:
I found the unit light weight and manageable in tight spaces, 11" tall with battery.   When boards, drops, ladders and scaffolding are in the way and all of which seem to be on your power cord for your electric drywall cut out tool, being cordless helps. The power switch is easy to access along with the soft grip feel.  Quick start and stop for safety.   The provided belt clip allows the unit to go where you go.  The led light and 28,000 rpm help to get the job done as well. 

Cons:
The unit is sold without a battery or bag.  I have other metabo HPT cordless tools so no issue until I had to do something with the extra bit and wrench.  This brings me to another issue, the need for a wrench.  The first time using this I actually snapped the bit.  Didn't have the wrench or the extra provided bit.  I was able to extend the original bit after using an adjustable wrench to unlock the chuck.  The only other issue I had was with the air discharge.  It does not allow a specific direction for the motor air flow to exit and as a result turns any drywall cut into a clouded situation.

In summary, the drywall cut out tool performed its job flawlessly in addition to some added operations.  Definitely an applicable tool for the drywall contractor to the renovation specialist.   As with any specialty tool, there is a learning curve so I recommend a few practice cuts on some drywall drops before you hit the walls or ceilings.

Much more compact and light compared to others. I do wish it came with other collet sizes but I solved that problem by finding some at a store. Great tool
