Miami Vice: The Complete Series Blu-ray Disc -  One of the most popular television shows of the 1980s, MIAMI VICE helped define the fashion and music of the period while simultaneously maintaining a high quality police drama standard. The show is famous for its pastel colors and bright south Florida settings, which serve to counteract the sleaze its main characters often had to deal with. Sonny and Rico are two cops who work undercover for the Miami Police Department. They must balance their myriad personal problems with the difficulty of being undercover in some of Miami's most rotten criminal businesses. Luckily, upbeat '80s music, and their own personal sense of cool, help. MIAMI VICE made a short-lived star out of Don Johnson, who eventually won a Golden Globe for his portrayal of Sonny, and supporting star Edward James Olmos (as a police captain) won both the Golden Globe and an Emmy. This collection includes all five seasons of the show.

Provides decent to perfect video quality considering the recording technology.

I can't comment on the reported 5.1 dolby issues that people have been reporting. I've been watching in stereo mode off my playstation and I can say that after watching about 20 episodes the blu ray upgrade is awesome. The sound and picture quality is an improvement over the previous dvd release. The blacks are dark black and the colors are brighter.  The picture quality is much sharper overall. It's true that it seems in night time filmed scenes or dimly lit settings that the picture quality doesn't seem "hi def". I 'm not sure but I suspect that maybe they used a different camera for those types of scenes and the quality just wasn't that high to start with.?  A great example of the the upgrade in sound, color and quality is the opening of "Out where the buses don't run" on season 2. Outstanding!

Although discs are becoming a thing of the past, I decided to buy this set. The quality is decent considering that Blue Ray is superior to the recording technology the had back in the 80's. And considering over 90 hours of Miami Vice, the cost is hard to beat.

As for the show, there is nothing I need to add. Being a teenager in the 80's it's needless to say I couldn't get enough of Miami Vice. Then again, of all the decades I was fortunate to experience, the 80's are still my favorite.

If you like the spirit of the 80's, I recommend this disc set. Thanks.

The 80's just don't get old...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So satisfying to get Miami Vice entire series run in Blu-Ray format. Sound and video is excellent. The only thing missing is subtitles but can't complain with this release!

The whole series in 1080p

Great purchase

This is a great show for anyone that grew up in the 80s!  I pull my white jacket out when I watch every episode.  Characters and music make this a winner.  Blu Ray cleans up the picture......

Miami Memories

Improper formatting, poor resolution, poor definition, no redeeming value excepting that it has the episode “Evan”. Can not go back to menu without ejecting and reinserting disc. This collection is a all around failure…
