I do like the compact size for some applications however any time I try to clamp with force the grooves on the channels hop out and it no longer grips the filter. Would love a wider and snugger groove surface area.

As said in other review - the 2 jaws are not tight enough on the pivot point. So the jaws can jump between teeth under force.  Which is shitakee mushrooms. 

Otherwise super handy size and short handles good for tight spaces. 

Just need to sort the quality out..

Quality needs to be upped

These pliers fell victim to the mightiest oil filter I've encountered thus far. They were able to clamp down and hold on fairly well, but the pliers themselves were bent when trying to loosen the oil filter. Had to resort to my screwdriver and hammer.

I wish quick lube shops wouldn't be allowed to use power tools.

Good design concept for some applications with limited access to the filter...but the implementation fell short. When adjusted for smaller diameter filters the pliers will not hold their setting - the two main parts slip at their pivot bolt the moment you squeeze the handles, opening back up to the widest setting and losing grip on the filter. Just bad detailed design due to the shape of the pivot bolt's slot.
