My customers love its durability and shine.
I know its for floors but if you want a top coat that will stand the test of time and give your hardwood table a shine that beats all

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought our first house and discovered under the carpet beautiful-ish hardwood floors. So as good DIYers We watched YouTube and jumped into the task of redoing our floors. Minwax Stain (Golden Oak) followed by Minwax polyurethane sealer. WoW! Do they look amazing! And I could jump on the website and chat with an expert when I had questions.

Great Product

Pine wood floors, 35 yrs. old, 1x12 boards.  Sanded and sanded with drum sander and then edger. Bought (2) 2.5 gallon cans for the dining room and kitchen. It was very humid for 30 hours after applying the first coat with a quality roller!  12 plus hours later, applied the second coat, and 5 hours later applied the 3rd coat ( rain moved out, temperature dropped, humidity dropped, furnace kidded on and fired up the basement wood burner), 4 hours later, dry to touch and we're walking on it this morning. It looks great.  Now we wait for it to harden.

It looks great

I have used this on all our oak floors in our 100+year old house.  The finish is beautiful and very durable.  It really brings out  the various shades in red oak.  I read several reviews with people being dissatisfied with the dry time and outgassing.  My experience is that when the humidity is high drying will be longer than the instructions say.

Floor looks beautiful

I have used this in several areas of my home, including high traffic hallways. I don't understand the problems others seem to have. I have come to decide that their idea of a "thin" coat is different than mine. I use it at what I think is fairly thick. That may be the issue others have. (Mislabeled cans aside). I preferred High Building Professional, but they don't seem to make that anymore. I want nothing but Minwax on my floors. I do recommend adequate ventilation, beware of pollen in the air.

Works as expected, beautiful high gloss finish

We have reclaimed wood floors in our log home that after 18 years of wear and tear needed a facelift!  The Satin version of this product gave us the perfect look we wanted. It does dry much faster than other polys, but temp and humidity also have to be considered (higher humidity, longer dry time).  Another plus, if the coats are done in a timely manner, no sanding between coats! :)

Beautiful finish

An avid DYI'er, I chose to refinish the ancient, beat up hardwood floors in the guest bedroom. Following Minwax's instructions on the can, everything went perfect. The 1st coat was done by 11a.m. and the 2nd coat went on around 6p.m. that night. At 4p.m. the next day, the floor was completely dry as I was walking around on it, amazed at how awesome it looked. I've been told refinishing floors is a real pain, however, I found this to be way more enjoyable than painting and will start the next bedroom in a couple of weeks. I have 2 tips, when you think you're done sanding, go back over everything and look for those little divots and streaks of old varnish at the seams, if you have them, they're shallower than you think and will quickly come out right away with a palm sander. Second, don't flood the floor with the polyurethane nor let it pool, go for a nice, even, light coating. The 1st coat will soak into the wood and not look right, the 2nd coat will make you smile ear to ear. Have fun!

I finished putting 3 coats of this product on my floors yesterday.  In six months I'll do another review about the durability of the finish on my floors. I read everything I could about various products and decided this one was best.  I started out thinking it would be easy. But it wasn't.  The major problem is that the floor dries too quickly. I started in the far corner and switched my direction half way so I could follow the grain of the wood.  It's really hard to see where the overlap should be.  I ended up missing areas several feet away and then I had to go across the grain to cover the missed spot. I was doing 3 large bedrooms that opened up into a large hallway. Obviously I had to stop at the doorway of each bedroom and could not do the hallway until the bedrooms were finished. I ended up having slight marks of my pad edge.  I also could not use the amount of poly recommended for the floors, it just sat there.  I ended up with drops of poly in little droplets and on my feet and hands.  Supposed to be able to wash off, but it's still on me after 2 showers.

Interesting product

Horrible product. The smell is awful. We moved out of the house for a week and ventilated and it still smells terrible. We have young children and are concerned for their safety with the strong off gassing. We are now having to move out again and sand this terrible product off the floors.

I bought two cans of this Minwax poly. Batch MW2879ZY finish was as advertised- satin. Very pleased. Batch  MW1769SJ  is definitely a high gloss mistakenly put in a can that advertises satin. 

I used all of the first can and needed the second can to finish my project. As you can imagine, the section of floors That have the later batch are so much shinier (we kept thinking it just wasn't drying).
