I can't tell  you when I bought my Minwax Polyshade, there's always some left in the can from a previous use, it's the only product I use!  It always goes on smooth and cleans up nicely and the furniture looks beautiful!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So, I have been in the wood working hobby for over 20 years, and I am glad I tried this one out. So, most stains are the same at least the process, time cure etc. But,  I have found with this brand the coloring is more gradual, so you don't end up with a dark walnut immediately, you can gradually make it darker which is great if you are trying to match colors with other furniture in your house.

Great stains

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Finally found a great product that makes it easy to refurbish furniture. I liked that it was a one step process. I did a small piece of furniture and applied two coats and I really loved the way it turned out. Having the stain and polyurethane in one step makes projects much easier and I'm ready to get some other things done with different colors!

Easy to apply!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Minwax® PolyShades® I was surprised how well this covered with the first coat. I did apply a second only because I wanted a deeper color and once it dried the sheen is amazing.I am hoping they will come out with addition colors as I have a few other projects that I would consider using this.

Minwax® PolyShades®

The paint department staff assured me this product would work for floors.  Project was to restore the finish on my oak floors at the home entry.  We stripped, sanded, vacuumed and tackey wiped the floors as directed, applied the polyshades and THEN looking for cleanup, came to the end of the paragraph that said NOT RECOMMENDED FOR FLOORS!!!!  We expected to apply a 2nd coat, but how many would it take to make it durable enough to be useful?  OR, what will work on top of it to make the floor durable enough to last a reasonable time?  Product was easy to work with, but didn't realize it was to go on wood that is finished until too late.  Hope you can help.  Thanks.

Too late to learn POLYSHADES not good for floors!

Purchased this product, in Bombay Mahogany, to use on new unfinished poplar. The good, the colour is a very nice shade of rich reddish brown. It takes at least three coats to get it there, but the colour is very nice. The bad, this product runs and sags just by giving it a dirty look. Even applying with a high quality natural bristle brush, so thin that the piece is barely wet. Come back to check on it after a few hours to find runs and sags. I should have read the other reviews before purchasing, by I will definitely not be using a 2 in 1 product again. Back to traditional stain and poly for better results.

Review Polyshade After using PolyShades all in one my choice is to strip the oak table and chairs again or trash them
PolyShades was blotchy and uneven.  Unfortunately, this all-in-one polyurethane stain cannot be adjusted the way regular stain can be.  
This stuff is impossible to apply without the finish looking as though a 5-year-old did it.  It's globby, uneven and just plain awful to use.  It's almost as though it clots.  I've refinished many pieces over the years but nothing has failed like this project has.
I spent well over 20 hours stripping and sanding (3 steps to 240).  I used Minwax prep, and several good brushes for the poly before I switched to a cotton cloth application.  I applied three light coats. Then four...sanding lightly between each with a 240-grit sandpaper and then tacking for dust.  My hope was that this would even out with more applications.  It didn't.
Too bad because it was a beautiful piece.  Now I wonder if it is even salvageable.
Very disappointed in the product and would rate it less than one star if I could.

Not a good choice for me

I found this produce very hard to work with, perhaps because of the combination of stain and poly -- streaky colors and gummy application. Using steel wool between coats, (as directed) is a mistake, even after 7 hours of drying time as it sticks to some parts of the finish that were apparently not fully cured. I wish I'd stayed with the traditional two step strain and finish process.

I bought this so we could finish our brand new king size bed. I did the bookcase headboard today. It turned out horrible . I ruined the headboard trying to save time with this one step. I have worked building furniture for over 25 years so I know how to finish products. Tried to save time cause I was excited to get our new bed done and in our room. Well just cost me alot of time to either rebuild the headboard again or sanding for days and hoping I can salvage it. Please check reviews and save your money and time.

Dont waste your money

I chose the PolyShades product because the the "Honey" stain color in the brochure matched exactly to the wood moldings I was trying to match.  This color oddly was not available as a traditional oil based stain through Minwax.  So, we decided to try the PolyShades route.  Big mistake!  It is so splotchy.  Although I am no where close to an expert, I have used Minwax stains and poly on various projects for the last 20 years.  This PolyShades product needs to be removed from their lineup.  It is horrible.  It is inconsistent, splotchy, and does not look anything like the color it is supposed to be.   I also did use the Minwax wood conditioner. I spent 2 days stripping my door to bare wood before this product.  I am going to have to strip it again.  We are very unhappy with the product, but would still use the traditional Minwax stain and poly.

Stay Away!  Use the traditional stain/poly
