Ease Of Use

Odor

Wood Appearance

Can enhance appearance, but may not seal well.

Can be low-odor, but may have a strong smell in some cases.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We're in the process of remodeling our cabin. We did a burnt wood wall and I used this on it. It worked perfectly and really made the final look truly beautiful. Easy to use and not a horrible harsh chemical smell. I did use a foam roller because I was going over such a large area and it worked great.

Love it!

minwax.com

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This minwax water based oil-modified polyurethane was exatly what i needed to seal my dining room table! It went on smoothly and i went slow so there would be no air bubbles! It dried quickly and the smell didnt overpower us! My table looks great and i dont have to worry about stuff getting stuck in the little cracks anymore!

Worked perfect!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] What a great product to save all yourfamily treasures or items! VERY easy to use; whatever you choose; spray or canned. I used on a wooden lawn chair that my son had built years ago. Thinking its life was limited i gave this product a shot. LOVE the results and now know i can enoy that chair a bit longer!

Easy

I'm a pretty experienced wood worker and have used every finish out there. I was searching for a particular clear finish that was not ultra clear (like a water based poly and not as warm as oil based poly) was turned on to the modified oil poly and it's really good. The warm color finish is about right in the middle of a water (clear) and oil (warm) tone. This was perfect for what I needed. Application was a breeze, no odor and a durable finish in 2 hours I really like it!

Great product!

I am making a red oak table and have used regular poly in the past. This one is amazing, it is easy and clean to apply. You just need to make sure you don't apply it too thick. Unlike other polyurethane I have used in the past this one didn't drip at all. Very easy to use and even easier to clean up with water and soap.

Love this product

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Minwax is the only product I use, I have used this for 40 years and have no complaints whatsoever. You cannot go wrong with any products. If your into woodworking, this is for you. I have passed this down to my sons, who both use it as well.

Only 1 I use

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this Minwax® Water Based Oil-Modified Polyurethane to use for arts and crafts in my home and I am so glad that I did. This was so easy to use and apply and went on smoothly during application. It dried well and didn't leave any residual tacky residue. I definitely will be getting more of this.

Great product

First I want to say that as a professional wood flooring refinish contractor myself, I personally "Love this product!" . It is durable, easy to use, self leveling, and cost effective. It allows me to do all my coats (3) , in 1 day. this makes me money. This product is also great for it's low odor. Customers are overjoyed that there are no heavy fumes like a traditional polyurethane

EXCELLENT FOR WOOD FLOORS

Minwax Product Support

To me CLEAR means colourless. I stirred thouroughly. I folllowed the way too tiny directions using a magnifying glass. The product applies and cleans up easily, and does not smell. BUT!!! BE WARNED! This product leaves a yellowish tinge and completely destroyed the look of a teal and pink coloured project, turning the teal too greenish and yellowing the pink. So dissappointed. Too much work to redo.

Does not dry clear!

Digital Care Team

What a nightmare to work with this product!!!
Impossible to create a perfect finish coat with this terrible product.
I have tried foam applicators, and synthetic brushes, with the same bad results.
BAD: it dries too fast, impossible to coat a larger area with one end to be drying already before you finish the other end??!!!
BAD: it does not self-level, any small drip from the brush or small heavier coat of this polyurethane left from the brush along the edge will not level, and will leave water marks that have to be sanded and the whole piece coated again.
BAD: it does not self level and thus more coats will not necessarily result in better finish, on the contrary, more coats will create more imperfection, making the final result worse :-(
BAD: it does not seal the wood well.. even after 3 coats with a brush, air bubbles appear in many areas of the surface.. even though, every coat has been lightly sanded with 320-grid paper..

JUST BAD... and will not buy again!!!!

1 star for low VOC, anything else terrible :-(
