We remodeled our home with pine, walls and ceilings about 5 years ago. The contractor that we hired to finish the wood recommend using sand and seal over polyurethane due to his experience (he has been painting and sealing for over 30 yrs) because polyurethane will yellow and crack over time. We wanted to keep the natural look and we told him we trusted him with his recommendation. We are so happy we did. 5 yrs later we are still in love with the finish and look. It looks like it was just applied.  He did put three coats on and there has been so change in coloring or cloudy areas, and we did not use any other products.

I see too many 1 star reviews that seem to be based upon misuse of the product.  DO NOT give a product a bad rating because you used it improperly, there is nothing wrong with this sanding sealer, it is terrific and performs exceedingly well, when USED CORRECTLY!!!  Don't blame the tool for your mistake.

Use it corfrectly

I used this sanding sealer on bare red oak sanded to 220 and a few coats of minwax oil based poly on top and it came out fantastic. Smooth and beautiful finish. I agree with the other reviewer, use it the way it was intended (read the directions) and the results are good. Finishes are very subjective however there are no complaints here. Would use this combination again without hesitation.

Worked Great

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am refinishing some kitchen cabinets. After sanding them down, it was easy to apply a coat of Minwax sanding sealer. The wood that was coated took finish very well and was extremely smooth. The best part of the process was drying time. I could apply finish in  only an hour.

Smooth finish

Was easy to apply and clean up was easy also. My desk turned out great, I also used it on an old night stand.

Great Stain

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have applied this with a brush, roller, and cloth- it works great with all applications! I usually do my applications at night so I don't have to wait for drying time- I have not experienced any issues with the application not being completely dried. I always use multiple coats, which you will need to do with this, so overall, great product!!

Great water-based Sealer!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I original saw this on a youtube video and tried it out. Usign the sealer makes a huge difference to the end result. I didn't even know it was needed but if you are doing nice woodwork (I make tables) the finish you get working through the grits is far superior especially with mechanical sanders.

Use it - you won't regret it!

Great product!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After using this water based sealer I was thought everything was going to be a mess because my piece of wood that I used it on had been glued in the middle and after the sealer dried, the wood began to bow up in the middle. After several hours I went back to the piece and it had completely flattened out. Not being used to using a water based sealer I was very surprised by this reaction. Everything seems to be stable and fine.

Worked well to be a water based sealer.

We used this product on a beautiful pine door we were staining because we were promised it would give a super even finish.  We sanded evenly as per instructions and applied stain.  The stain did NOTHING!!!! We turned the door over and tried again.  This time in attempt to sand the sanding sealer off.  Stain took but it was blotchy and uneven.  This product is probably fine if you are painting  but definitely not staining.   We tried a door with no sanding sealer and it turned out beautifully.  However we have 1 ruined door from this product.   Photo notes:  door on left has sanding sealer,  door on right does not.

Bad for staining!!
