This interior wood finishing gel stain is specifically designed to give you full control over the staining process and help you achieve beautiful results. The unique, non-drip formula makes application easy for vertical surfaces. It’s thick-bodied, so this Minwax stain stays more towards the surface, allowing for greater control during application.Minwax indoor wood stains deliver color evenly on wood and non-wood surfaces, such as metal, veneer, fiberglass, plywood and more. Recommended uses include woodwork, furniture, doors, molding, trim, cabinets, and accessories. For best results, pre-treat bare wood surfaces with Minwax Pre-Stain Conditioner to ensure you get the most uniform color. Ideal for interior wood projects but can be used on exterior surfaces as well (exterior surfaces must be top coated with an exterior clear protective finish).To apply, use a clean cloth, wood stain brush, or foam applicator to apply Minwax Gel Stain liberally in the direction of the grain. Great viscosity

First time using gel stain and super happy with the results. Using hickory on stair banister and posts to match new floors. Great coverage and couldn't be easier. Cleaned all parts to be stained, light sand and applied with a sock. Very happy with the results.

Stair Remodel

I googled to see if there was a wood stain that will cover over painted wood. MinWax came up. Bought it and SO HAPPY I did!! It is flippin beautiful!! I didnt sand my base board either. Base boards were painted white. Wanted wood look. Very much recommend this product!!!!

BEAUTIFUL!!!

It is Nice and thick so it doesn't drip when applying, since I stain the walking canes I carve, it is great for the vertical application since it doesn't drip. It doesn't streak goes on evenly. Since it is think it is easier to control when applying, I recommend using a top coat when finished staining, I don't think I will go back to a liquid stain after using this. A++

No drip stain

I have used Minwax stains for many years while building houses. This new gel product is easier to use, more forgiving, better coverage. I recently used it on very difficult to stain maple cabinets and it worked fantastic, very even coat, no blotches, wonder natural look. Most highly recommended.

Best stains

Very easy to use

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My cabinets look brand new! I have been wanting to upgrade our kitchen without spending tons of money. We have wonderful, solid wood cabinets but the color was out dated. 
I decided to sand them down and try the Minwax Gel Stain. The stain was easy to apply and went on well. The color looked like the swatch color and I was happy with how it turned out. The application was simple. The stain is also a little thicker so it is much easier to apply. It created less mess also.  
Our kitchen has an entire new look with just a quick, easy stain. We are very pleased.

Minwax Product Support

I spent 4 weekends removing the paint and sanding the 12" x 30' interior frieze board on the front porch of our bungalow. Now, I am looking at having to re-sand 3 feet of it to remove the remnants of this product. It was 83 degrees with 60% humidity when I applied it. I did a final light sanding and cleaned the entire frieze board, painted a liberal coat of gel stain on a three foot section, and set a timer for 3 minutes. After 3 minutes, when I tried to wipe off the excess, it was so gummy and thick the excess could not be removed. The rag didn't even put a dent in it. I resorted to grabbing a container of mineral spirits to try to remove the coat of it covering the board. Yes, I should have tested it first to get a feel for it, but I never imagined that it would harden like glue in just 3 minutes. I will not be using this product again.

Gummy - excess does not wipe off
