Flo Smart Water Monitor & Shutoff

After Moen’s FLO 2 week learning mode and becoming familiar with how to operate FLO it has given us peace of mind when we are away from our house. We were able to get a reduction on our home owners insurance and rebate from our water utility.

Better than flood insurance

This affords me such great piece of mind. IT seems to water pressure sensor is a bit off from a real analog gauge in my testing, but overall, this is a quality item anyone should have if they are away from their home for long stretches of time.

If you are away from home often, you need this.

I bought my Flo in June of 2020. Occasional WiFi dropouts were normal but not frequent. The savings goal it set was way below normal and there was no way to change it. Pretty annoying. The worse part was that internally the Flo device was slowly leaking water around the white plastic shaft that the motor drove to open or shut the valve. In one of my pictures the drive motor is clearly afflicted by long term rust. Eventually enough water got in to the upper half of the housing and ruin the circuit boards. A replacement is VERY expensive and how can I found out if Moen will acknowledge this serious defect and affirm it has been fixed? I don't want to purchase another if I know it will also leak water into the circuit board housing. Also, it seems they may have discontinued the 1.5" model that I have so there is no direct replacement that I can see without reworking my plumbing for the 1.25" model. PS: being an electronics engineer I disassemble my unit and found about 6 ounces of water sloshing around. The main microprocessor is not starting. Even though the 12v wall supply is good and the on-board TI TPS54231 chip is producing 5volts, the 3.3v supply based on the TI TPS54328 regulator never starts. I suspect it needs the Enable signal line pulled high by the main microprocessor. Without 3.3V the WiFi chip (TI WL18MODGB) never starts and the sensor for water flow never runs.

Doomed To Fail (Internal water leak)

The most challenging process of the Moen is the connection to our phones.  It will not recognize 
Our scan code and does not connect to the app on our phone.  So our system is working on the house.  But the WiFi is not allowing it to connect to our phones.  I have tried about 5 times calling and have waited for over 20 minutes for assistance.  No help at all from Moen.  This was a very expensive item we had to have in order to get home insurance.

WiFi

I was happy with the system until now. The app migrated to a new platform, and no matter what I do, I cannot stop the alerts for water use when my irrigation system comes on. The Moen system turns off the water a couple of times a day. I get the alerts but usually after the fact since I am traveling with intermittent WiFi, leaving my family with no water. The “Help” bot is no help, and I can't reach a human on the phone

The baseline usage is set the first few days after installation- so if that is not your normal water usage you will experience unnecessary shutdowns-
