Alpha speakers are great. They are quality sound with a full range. I went with 3 angled fronts and 4 down speakers. All are Alpha series 8" speakers. These were paired with 2 Monoprice 12" powered subs (Product # 9723). My living room is as good as a movie theater with this 7.2 setup. RIP my neighbors ears. :P

I've always shied away from in-wall/ceiling speakers, but I was blown away by the sound. I installed these in a room where there was no other solution. the ability to aim the tweeters towards the listening position really helps the sound quality. Are in ceiling speakers ideal? Not at all. However, these sound fantastic, better than other brands at a much higher price that I've listened too.

Incredible sound

speakers which cost 2x to 3x this amount.  
These speakers are awesome, I hooked up to a new sonos amp and the old (name brand) speakers in my house weren't able to keep up, but these do the job well with little distortion.  Other reviews, judged the quality based on a lack of bass.  IMO, all in ceiling speakers would require some sort of subwoofer if you are looking to have the walls vibrate with bass.  Just look at most soundbar sold today, subwoofers are standard add-on.  In my application, they have enough bass (I used the 8inch version) and delivery quality sound, both at high volume and low.

Great for the Price and better than.....

As a sound engineer, the overall audio quality is VERY important to me and my ears!  I tried these after first auditioning a couple of larger brand units (that were 2-3 times the cost of these).  Hands down these won with MUCH better dynamic range, good presence across the board (no muffled vocals or muddy dynamics).

We listen to alot of dance music, and the bass response is excellent, and the high end has plenty of room.  They can push out a fair amount of volume for the unit wattage and will fill a room without issues.

Build quality is good, even survived a drop from 5ft onto a countertop.  Would highly recommend.  

We paired these with a few old AV Component amps and installed the Monoprice in wall rotary volume control, which also works great if you want to run more than one zone from the same amp.

Superb Sound Quality for the price!

I went the extra effort of building a wooding box around them, which we all know that speakers sound better in a box, and they sound top notch in my Atmos setup.

Amazing sound for the price...good sound doesn't have to be expensive.

Nice upgrade from the 4104 speaker.  We installed in the matching cans with some foam insulation, and remove the ports. It was disappointing that it was not a drop in replacement.  We had to enlarge the existing ceiling speaker holes.  Compared to the 4104 speaker (with no can/box) the bass response is similar but the highs are noticeably improved.  A pair of these with a small sub would make a nice little 2.1 system.  Note, the speakers do improve after a couple of days of break in.

Decent speaker. Doubt you can get any better for the price. Vocals are little dull but I am using for surround and Atmos so fit the bill just right for me.

Had a professional installer out so I know it was done correctly but they still rattle a little. I'll be upgrading to a better product with a different company eventually

Lower quality than expected.

I purchased the 8" Alpha In-ceiling Speakers on Jun 22,2025.  The screws inside the built-in clamps are clearly inadequate.  See the attached photo to see how many failed.  The failure was not caused by over tightening, rather just from starting the process of closing the clamps.  I was lucky that I had other screws of a similar size which I could use in their place. With different screws, the install went smoothly.  
But it is unacceptable for the supplied hardware to fail in this way  This install was miserable until I realized the issue was just cheap screws.  I hate to think of other customers out there with holes in their ceiling right now having to process RMAs.
It's reasonable for readers to assume this is an issue of a heavy handed or inexperienced installer.  I can assure you that's not the case.  I've installed other ceiling speakers, with similar clamps.  As  soon as I swapped the pre-installed screws out, this install went fine.
I have the speakers installed now, and I'm pleased with the sound.  I recognize the compromises that have to be made with any in-ceiling or in-wall speakers.  I only use in-ceiling speakers for casual listening or background music in rooms were traditional speakers wouldn't work. As such, I try to be mindful not to over spend on these sorts of speakers.  Acoustically this speakers suits my needs well.
I cannot recommend the product, given the failures of the supplied screws in the clamps..

Cheap Screws Made Install Miserable

Bass rolls off at 80hz, I measured it myself. Sounds horrible and because the cutout is so big i can't replace it without new drywall and paint. My portable Bluetooth speaker with 2.5on drivers has more bass than this thing. I fixed it somewhat by buying a graphic equalizer and boosting 30-80Hz by 10dB to extend it maybe to 50Hz. Yes I tried changing the cavity size from fully open (attic) to smaller, using insulation. It didn't do much.

No bass, don't buy unless you have a sub.
