I learned about this sous vide from wire cutter. They test all kinds of products and list what their favourites are. I've only used it twice so far but so far so good. It definitely works better than a previous one I had which had an app on it and it kept shutting down every hour.

Works Great!

Used item about 4 times since purchase.  Works just as advertised.   A really good alternative to the higher priced units out there.

One Tidbit.... Checked temp with a high-quality accurate thermometer and water was within 0.2 degrees. Not bad at all.

Monoprice

Spot on temperature accuracy and control. Runs very quiet.  However, as far as I can tell it lacks an audio alert when it reaches temperature and when the timer is down to zero. Both are disappointing, but not show stoppers. I use my kitchen timer.

It is a fine product, but I had to return it due to a slight defect and replaced it with the same.

First one I received wasn't manufactured correctly and tripped my GFCI as soon as put in water. Kind of scary. The exchange process took a long time since returns are processed in CA and are shipped to there before they'll send a new one. They also don't respond to the tech support messages submitted through their web site. Had to eventually just request and exchange through my order history page. 
The replacement one seems to work well and is quiet. I like the half degree increments and it fits all the accessories I had for my previous stick. The clamp seems decent and I hope it hold up better than my previous brand's. The stick also comes apart easily to adjust the water flow.

Decent value when on sale

Purchased as a replacement for a Joule that lasted 5 years. Right out of the box one of the one of the temperature display digits was messed up. (see photo) Doesn't give me much hope for a long product life.

The temperature readout is 15-20 degrees off what the actual water temp is. This can lead to under cooked food. This company needs better QC. I've contacted the vendor. Whats suspicious is that amazon wont let you leave a bad review for this brand.....

The impeller has a plastic removable cover I suppose for cleaning ease but in just 10 uses at midrange temperature, the stupid thing crystalized and broke. Being that it's the impeller housing it has rendered this thing useless. If they give me a replacement it's going to last for 10 more uses? If they give me 10 I'll get 100 uses? This ain't looking good.

Make each use count! I only got 10!

I?m on my second sous vide cooker from Monoprice. The first one failed by not regulating temperature and boiling the water; The second just did the same?. I am now kicking myself for buying and trusting Monoprice- the 4 New York Strips I was sous videing are now destroyed- they cost way more than the cooker itself.  Strongly encourage you to buy a different brand.

Do not buy. Units fail and boil water- destroying your meal?
