This unbirthday present made a big hit with all the kids. It does take six AA batteries for the comet flotation device to work. The comet lights up to voice, sound, and music.  Just watching the doll float in mid-air is mesmerizing.

One of the coolest new toys around. My 8-year-old daughter already has way too many dolls, but I couldn't resist checking this one out-- and I'm so glad I did. It's really neat to watch.

In the "off" position, Astra Nova's head is magnetically stuck to the comet on top of the playset. When you turn it on, you have to swipe the guitar in between her head and the comet and then she begins to float and the lights become sound-reactive (you can sing, talk, or play music to set off the lights).

It works really well and the doll doesn't get knocked off her position easily. Really fun to watch and mesmerized my daughter-- who also declares Astra Nova the coolest-looking Monster High doll yet.

My 8 year old received this and we started putting it together asap. She thought that Astranova was so beautiful and that she was very magical to float by herself. She loved singing to her to make the lights come on and make her spin.
As a set she pretty much only played with the set when she was done playing. she would make her float when it was time to stop playing for the day. She played with the doll in some of her other sets but for the most part, she played with the entire set for a little bit after putting it together but then took the doll to play elsewhere.
Overall id say the set was a success, and the magical part of her floating might have more influence on younger children, but for her it was more of a docking station for the doll at night.

My daughters begged for this toy. They loved it for about two days, after which they just played with the doll.

Fun until the novelty wears off

Put it all together, get batteries in and nothing works. The doll will not float by herself, the doll has to be just connected to the top part. The lights and music do NOT work. My 5 year old was really looking forward to this toy, and now she is disappointed. I also go this for my niece and hers didn't work either, same issues. Guess I will not be buying these things from my Walmart anymore. And of course, we already threw the box away so I can't return it :( Very disappointed!!
