But getting there is a bit of work.  To begin with there are only 4 parts and some connecting bits to the assembly. The connecting parts are so small I had to have my wife screw them together. Three of the wire cage parts were bend and at 2 locations the welding spots were broke. I wired it back together. The box had NO packing material in the box to protect the product. The total assembly time is less than 5 minutes IF you have someone with little fingers.  The item is way overpriced for what you get. Once its attached to the feeder its a good product. I am surprised that  Moultrie allows this product out of the warehouse in this shape, and I am a Moultrie  fan.

In the end, this is a good product

This product works great for the price. Only complaint I have is the clamps that hold the cage together are so tiny it's hard to get them tight enough. Coons haven't broke it yet but I do go out on a regular basis to straighten the cage back out. Other than that it's great

Good product

I give this three stars because the four piece design would be much better if they had went ahead and made it a two piece where the cage would be complete and the bottom would be bolted to it. It was a pain putting it together and the separate pieces of the cage will still slide back and forth a quarter inch or so while installed on the feeder. It's been on a couple weeks and it works keeping little paws off the spinner plate. I also had a couple deer that had figured out they could spin the plate with their tongue. So far its doing the job. These two deer and the coons, would drop 150# of corn in four days. That's stopped.

It works, but design could be better

Overall item is what I expected. The small clips and screws that hold the sides of the cage together are hard to get on and could be designed better. But once assembled, the cage is sturdy, and it attached easily and securely with a perfect fit for the predrilled holes on my Moultrie Pro-Lock feeder. I think Moultrie has this cage priced too high when compared with similar cages, but hopefully prices come down once this new feeder design becomes more common. Regardless I paid for a varmint cage that would fit perfectly on my Pro-Lock feeder, and it does just that.

Varmint Cage Fits Well

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my husband, to be used with the feeder.  He put it together good, there is a larger hole at the bottom, that he said a squirrel probably could fit in - he will put a piece of wire across it. But other wise he likes it.

Moultrie guard

Initially, it worked well, but didn't last an entire season. Kept deer, racoons, and squirrels from spinning the plate. Unfortunately, the metal piece that attaches to the drum broke. While there are two other pieces that attach to the drum, the broken piece has created an access opening for squirrels. So, I turned the varmint guard upside down and reattached it to the drum. Seems solid. Hopefully it will hold up. I'll have to wait until next season to find out.

Broke first season.

Not happy with it. Squirrels can't get through it with no problems. Was told to try wire ties on the bottom holes and the lasted maybe two days. I have ordered some chicken wire to try and as a last resort I will take it to our local ma hine shop and get him to finish the job that you should have. The vertical holes need to be made closer together as well as the holes on their bottom. I am very surprised that everyone else that has tried this product has not complained or maybe they have and it fell on deaf ears.

Not happy with it. Squirrels
