My Word Coach (Wii)

My Word Coach, developed in collaboration with linguists, helps players improve their verbal communication and vocabulary in a fun way. Practice with six different exercises to choose between. Players can input missing letters from words, spell out the answers to various definitions, choose which word matches a particular definition, form specific words with Scrabble-like tiles, and more. Three levels of difficulty are available, and the game includes a built-in dictionary of over 17,000 words. Two of the games can be played multiplayer over wireless and five multiplayer games can be accessed when linking the Wii and DS. The data of up to three different players can be saved.

This is an excellent game. Just when you think you almost know it all, this game shows you that there is a lot of words we do not know. I love this game.

I really like this but there is one game on it that is very difficult in the fact that you have to "spray paint" the missing letter in a word. Maybe it's just me, but I can't manage to do it.
This program is good for people that need to learn more words and/or to keep your mind fresh.

Good game

but, this game gets boring pretty quickly. I'ld almost rather read a dictionary. It is likely that if you stick with the game, you may expand your vocabulary - which is what the game advertises it will do. Two people can play one of the games within the game. I've played this game twice and am bored with it already. Seriously, go to Walmart and buy a dictionary instead. You will learn more words and be less bored.

You may learn new words....

This is a very good game to make you use your brain. My husband and daughter are having fun trying to out do each other in their word knowledge. We homeschool and this is an excellent extra activity to help develop vocabulary and word usage. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to improve their vocabulary.

Good teaching tool

I purchased MWC for my children to learn how to better express themselves verbally. They're in the 2nd and 4th grade, so I thought this would be great excercise for them on the weekends and school breaks. Well, I monitored their first use of MWC and I found it pretty difficult for them. It moves through the excercises too fast, they expect you to be able to "spray paint " words on the screen, and cut / past words to their definitions. It seems to me that I've purchased something that's gonna make my children even more uninterested in learning. That being said, I tried it myself and loved it! This is better suited for adults who may want to increase their verbal expression level, or just want to have fun while stimulating their mind.
I would recommend this product , but not for children.

Not really for children

It's fun to play, but you can't skip all the training/intro things and just play the games. It doesn't really teach you new words unless you have time to do it everyday; but as a college student, I don't have the time.
Would recommend it for someone in high school or lower!

The game does help to expand your vocabulary however the ways of which to choose the correct answer leave a lot to be desired. In one part of the game, you actually have to draw the correct letter with the WII remote. This is not easy since the remote is not a pencil/pen.

Not worth the time

I purchased the product assuming that it would have fun little word games. I should have researched the game and read reviews.

The game is not very entertaining and is difficult to use with the Wii controllers. In one of the games, you need to write a letter of the alphabet, which needs to be very accurate or the system is unable to read the letter.

In one of the games, you are asked to choose the definition of a given word. Although the word may not be part of your daily grammar, the words and definitions can easily be matched. Example: Myoglobin. I may not know the exact definition, but I know it is a scientific protein related to the human body. The definitions were easy enough, but it was a little frustrating trying to move the controller to just the right spot so a definition could be chosen.

Lesson learned. Next time I will research the game before adding it to my cart.

Not for me

great for 8-14 year olds but adults can benefit too! meets the categorization of "making learning fun" and builds vocabulary. you can jump right in. the tutorial moves slow enough so you'll know exactly what to do.

great vocabulary builder

Very entertaining and educational for the entire family. Even the most articulate person could benefit from this product.
My children love the games and learn how to spell and the word definitions at the same time.
