The NETGEAR Nighthawk AX5400 (RAX50) has been working great for my home network. Setup was straightforward, and once it was running the connection has been extremely reliable. I experience almost no lag, even with multiple devices connected at the same time.

The coverage is excellent and reaches throughout the house without dead zones. Speeds are consistently strong and stable whether streaming, gaming, or working online. Overall, it's been a solid and dependable router that delivers exactly what I was hoping for.

Highly recommended if you want strong, reliable WiFi with great coverage.

This router is a beast! I replaced an older Netgear R6400 as my ground level router and in my basement had a Nighthawk R7000P.  It used to be that in the basement my devices connected to the R7000P, but this bad boy is so strong that even in the basement my devices connect to this one.  Pretty amazing.

AX5400 is a beast!

This is my second Netgear
router in five years. Their products are reliable, which is why when my previous one was outdated, I chose to upgrade to the next level. My wifi signal is strong and can connect easily to my devices. The set up for this model was sooo easy. I feel confident about the level of service and security.

Consistent

My old Netgear R7000 router served me well for many years but had started dropping wi-fi (especially 5G band) almost daily for a minute or so each time. After much online research I decided to try the RAX50. The R7000 gave good coverage throughout our 3300 sq ft house but I was concerned about the range of the RAX50 since it's advertised as suitable for up to 2500 sq ft. My concerns were unfounded as the new router provides a stronger signal and significantly faster speeds on both the 2.4G and 5G bands to every room in the house and even outside to our whole-home backup generator. I've only had the router for a few weeks but there have been zero wi-fi drops. Regarding speed, I have a 600 mbps internet plan but was getting less than 400 mbps with the R7000 on the 5G band. I could get the max speed only with a wired ethernet connection. I now get wi-fi speeds of 600 - 650 mbps everywhere in the house. 
Set up was straightforward once I did the initial setup with the Nighthawk app and followed up with the web access for more customizations. 
Overall, I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase.

Great upgrade from Netgear R7000

This has been great. We are a family of 8 and this thing feeds chromebooks, laptops, pc, tvs, gaming consoles, phones, tablets, and streaming devices all with no problem. It also has a free trial of parent controls that's pretty cheap after the trial. Highly recommended.

Works with many devices connected

Purchased a new AX5400 wi-fi router to update older nighthawk. Was very happy at how my speeds increased and how easy it was to connect my printer just by pressing the button on the router. Very fast internet upload and download speeds! Love the app where you can view all your connected devices, check for updates etc. A very good investment for the money, especially with the free year of NETGEAR armor which came with it.

Love this router! Runs our ring cameras and all our TVs, Alexa and all our other online gadgets, water sensors, etc., with no buffering on the TV anymore.

Netgear Nighthawk Wi-Fi six router AX 5400

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The single sheet diagram identifying parts of the router would be helpful if it stated the WiFi item was a switch that has to be turned on and lit for the antennas/WiFi to operate. Many cheaper routers do not have an antenna on/off switch so this could be new to many users.

I bought this unit assuming I'd get better coverage. Setup using all the settings I had previously on older unit. Not getting better coverage at all.  In fact, there seems to be an increase in loss of internet connection.  Not happy with the setup instructions.  still working on setup, will have to call support. SAD.

Setup instructions are lacking.

Frustrated by the gimmicky design, firmware, and app. Not good value for the money... lots of options left out, like additional or virtual wireless networks. Add in instability and broken Smart Connect and it just doesn't make sense. Returning this and not going to buy NetGear wireless products again.
