We got this for my 8 yr old son as he's "into" rocks and gems right now. While we haven't produced a finished product as of yet (over 2 weeks for the process), he's excited. And, it teaches him some patience as well. We have it in the garage since the tumbling is loud enough to be a bother in the house.
We also bought the replacement kit so that he can get several uses out of it.

My grandson is into rocks,etc. He will be excited about receiving this gift. The purchase was
through the internet site of Walmart which was sent to the the Lawenceville store and the extra
box of rocks through the mail. Easy to order- quick delivery.

This was a gift.

It was not what I expected. It takes several days to complete the entire process, there is not enough materials to do all the rocks.

my Smithsonian rock tumbler tub was bad from the start ,water would drip from it then before the 2 cycle was done, it got a hole in the side of it which made the leaking worse to the point I can not use it .and I cant take it back .

We followed the directions specifically on how to use this tumbler. Before the second cycle finished the rock's wore a hole in out tumbler. Now its useless and I'm out that money. I'm very frustrated. Save your money and purchase a better one.

poor quality

The machine leaks and makes more noise than we ever expected.  Expect a return!
