We bought this gas grill from a local appliance dealer off of his recommendations. Wow! What a grill. It is exactly what we wanted!  What we like about it is the size of the grilling area just right size for us. It folds  down in the storage position for when we travel. But the best part is that it grills chicken and burgers and just about everything else very well. We put Mesquite wood on the grills and we achieve the desire flavor

I bought this last August and have been thoroughly enjoying it! I use it as my bbq at home, and fold it to take camping. It's light weight but can grill many burgers or pieces of chicken. I highly recommend!

Who is the grillmaster for your household?  Traditionally that role has been filled by the man of the house but the new Napoleon TravelQ 285X Travel Grill is stirring things up and changing traditional perceptions.  My husband and I are not grill people.  We had an old charcoal grill which hadn't been used in years so we tossed it when we moved.  Now, years later, I took one look at the TravelQ and it was love at first site.  
The grill comes in your choice of blue or red.  I received the blue grill which is a medium blue in a matte finish which, in my opinion, is a classier look than a shiny finish.  The TravelQ is well-built and very sturdy which makes it an excellent choice for transporting to different locations.  It even has a lock to keep it securely closed which was a concern that I had before receiving it.  This will be especially useful if the grill is attached to your backpack for a camping trip. 
The manual that comes in the box will tell you how to use, clean, and care for your new grill but I doesn't provide much in putting the wheels on the scissor cart assembly.  The key to attaching the wheels is to take a good look at the picture of the grill on the box.  Note how the attached wheels look and then make sure you attach them the same way.  If you put them on backwards, they will not attach securely and might come loose.  Once the wheels are correctly attached, your new TravelQ will roll along wherever needed for your backyard barbeque, tailgate party, camping trip or just on the balcony overlooking the pool.  
Before you can get started grilling you will need to purchase a 1 lb disposable cylinder of liquid propane fuel.  You should be able to find this at Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes, and similar locations for less than $15.  If you grill a lot and prefer to use a larger canister of liquid propane you can always get an inexpensive adapter to do that.  Make sure you read the safety instructions in the manual before attaching the cylinder to the grill and hand-tighten only. Follow the instructions to perform the Leak Test after the cylinder is connected. Keep the propane fuel in a well ventilated area and never store it in the house or garage.  The grill can go in the garage but the propane needs to stay outside.  Never use your grill in an enclosed space.  Safety first and always.
Open the cart to raise the grill to its full height of about 33".  The TravelQ sits in the middle with useful workspace of approx. 9" on either side.  Having that extra space on either side of the grill allows you to keep your tools handy and still have space for food waiting to be put on the grill.  Before using the grill for the first time, they recommend washing the grids in mild dish soap to remove any dirt or particles that might have settled there during shipping. Rinse the grids thoroughly and then dry with a soft cloth. Never give in to the temptation of putting them in the dishwasher.  As with most non-stick cookware you might have in your kitchen, washing in the dishwasher can damage the non-stick properties and render it useless.  Follow the instructions in the manual for seasoning the grids with vegetable shortening to enhance those non-stick properties.
When your grill is seasoned and ready to use, open the lid.  Then push and turn one or both of the burner control knobs on the front of the grill.  Turn them slowly to the high position which will generate a spark and ignite each burner.  If it doesn't work the first time, turn them off and repeat. It didn't work the first time during our test but succeeded the second time and has worked fine since.  This is apparently not a problem and is mentioned in the manual along with alternate methods of igniting the grill if necessary.
For those of us who have never used a gas grill before, the cooking instructions in the manual will be a useful guide for when it's appropriate to cook with the lid open or closed.  Probably the most important thing to remember is to keep the grill clean to avoid flair-ups from accumulated grease.  Clean out the drip tray regularly and especially before folding up the cart and tipping the assembly in the vertical position.  You don't want to leave a trail of grease behind you as you go.  A brass cleaning brush will be useful in removing cooked-on debris from the grids and other surfaces exposed to grease and food particles.  Again, you will find instructions in the manual.  If you've lost the manual or need a new one, you can download a PDF file from the Napoleon(dot)com website.  
Cooking on the TravelQ was as easy as cooking on a gas range in the kitchen.  Turning the control knobs results in even, reliable cooking flame.  The cooking grids provide a huge area for grilling hamburgers, hot dogs, steaks and more for a whole crowd of people.  The grids seem to protect the burners from getting dripped on.  Whether this is by design or devine providence, I don't know but it makes cooking easier.  The burner arrangement also allows for indirect heat for more delicate grilling tasks so you can cook more than one type of food at the same time.

The Napoleon TravelQ TQ285X grill is a far cry from that old charcoal grill that we tossed in the trash.  It makes grilling easy, clean, and fun even for a grilling novice or ... gasp... a woman.  An assortment of hamburgers and hot dogs for a family of five was prepared on the TravelQ with excellent results.  There is no edge to guard against food sliding off when you're flipping or moving food around on the grill. Much to the delight of my neighbor's dog, one of the hot dogs managed to roll off the grill but that's just a little reminder to use tongs for more precise control of the food on the grill.    If you are tired of waiting for your husband to drag himself away from the TV and fire up the grill, wait no more.  Grilling is no longer just for men.  The Napoleon TravelQ TQ285X is available with the handy scissor cart or just the grill alone.  No men required.  I received this product for my honest evaluation which I have provided here.

Love the idea of not having barbecue on the picnic table. Good heat is awesome . The only thing that upset me is the paint on the lid is coming off.

Great for camping

We bought the TravelQ for our RV Travel Trailer. Two seasons now it's been great. But just this week the Jet Fire ignition shoots a flame but does not ignite the gas burners. The burners seem to be disconnected. I am sure it is an easy fix but I can't figure out how to do this.

The grill doesn't get hot, I did reset regulator, checked all connections for any possible gas leak, and even changed the propane tank with a new one, but it still has the problem! I claimed for the guarantee but no one answered me! I'm extremely disappointed from my purchase 😞

The grill doesn't get hot!

I bought this grill mainly for camping because of its portability while the scissor cart works very well the rest seems as very poor quality the paint started to peel after about a month and a half now almost all of the paint on the lid has fallen off. The burners do not work well on low is has way too much heat. Turned to the lowest setting it heats up to 600 degrees

I tried to get support. I don't know why but the burner only stays on if I hold down the button and have no control over the intensity of the burner burning at high pressure. I feel like I've been cheated. Can you help me with this problem?
