I love this! National Geographic break and open geodes is such a fun gift for kids who are very curious about rocks. My son absolutely loved it and this is his six collection.

Cool and exciting

The children loved it. The geode was hard to break but how beautiful it is inside. With the glasses and the little magnifying glass, the children thought themselves to be a real stone researcher! - Oh, my God.

Geode Discovery Box

This kit was a very good introduction to geology. Had fun chipping away to find each precious stone. The pamphlet that was included was very helpful in identifying each stone.

This is such a fun and educational toy for kids who love rocks, crystals and science.  Perfect for curious kids, a homeschool activity or a week-end experiment.

Exciting STEM activity that makes science fun!

This product needs a lot of adult supervision and help for young kids. We found scoring the stones very hard to do so they would break apart evenly. One just crumbled into pieces. We haven't opened the other one yet. I'm looking for a better tool to score it. Lots of excitement to get it open though and a good way to teach the wonders of the natural world. Kids love rocks!

Disappointed

Such a cool set to play with. My friends kids loved it. They were so curious as to what this kit was and then they just got completely engrossed.

Amazing learning toy

My kids really like dig kits and any hands on  activities, but as a parent, I want to be able to give them an activity and send them on their way, especially when I'm working from home. Unfortunately this kit requires parental help. Breaking the geodes is not easy enough for kids to do safely on their own. But, the geodes themselves are really lovely. My kids still have ones they opened years ago.

We received two garden quartz stones coated in brown dust.. These are *not* geodes, they were both solid throughout. They were identical stones so there was nothing to discover from one to the next. Huge letdown for me and my son.
