I got tired of feeding the squirrels with my old feeders, so bought this. The birds love the suet( I use the peanut and the pepper flavors) and there is no mess to clean up. The squirrels came by to check it out, but have left it alone. I have 2 of these feeders now. Very happy with this purchase.

Great Purchase

to me this is the best suet feeder because (as the manufacturer says) it has a stable wooden area for the birds to grip for traction. I have bought this item repeatedly over the last 3 years.  I have given three as gifts.  I currently six in my yard. one at each bird feeder, two on  each of two trees.  They are mostly used by woodpeckers, the smaller black and white (Pilated?) and the bigger red headed woodpeckers. Some other birds occasionally use it as well. By the way, Walmart delivered it a week ahead of the expected date.
The wood holds up well all winter.

It's not important where I like it or not.  The important thing is that the birds like it.  It took them a couple of days to get used to it hanging there.  But now they love it, woodpeckers and nuthatches.

This is the perfect suet holder! It's easy to fill and the birds love the fact that they can use both sides. I find it empty every morning. Must be doing something right!

The woodpeckers do seem to like this feeder better than the standard wire type, I have been having some of the larger bids (flickers, etc) since putting it up. The only problem is the way the wooden top is fastened.  Squirrels and racoons can easily lift it off. The feeder needs some type of fastener to keep the "unwanted" guests out.

This is a very nice suit feeder. It's easy to hang, refill and looks great. The design keeps the sparrows off it and provides a place for the woodpeckers and other birds to eat. The two issues are the rooftop paint is easily scratched and the feeder sways a lot from the wind.
