I brought this Nerf gun for my eight-year-old son (bad idea)  it's superheavy and very powerful.  However, I feel as if he was 13 or better he would be able to control the gun more and it would be an amazing gift.

Have three of these. Great guns as the kids get older (around 12 or older depending on strength). Great for adults to join in the fun. Look for them on clearance but worth full price. Get the Nerf battery if you can find it (or check online for mods)

Great rival - heavy side but packs 100 rounds

I got this gun for Christmas and have been in 2 big NERF wars with it and have loved it. The only kinda bad thing is the fact that it takes 6 D batteries so it's expensive to operate. Love the sights they actually do really work. It works best as a mounted turret because it is so heavy. Anyway it is a great gun that I would totally suggest to a friend.

Nerf Rival Nemesis

it hasn't jammed yet and it doesn't hurt as bad as i thought it would to get shot

To date, the Nerf Rival Nemesis is the greatest blaster ever made.  That isn't discounting the Nerf Prometheus in anyway as it has double the capacity and faster rate of fire and equally awesome but, it is also far more expensive, bulky and is an orthodox turret style.  Right now a Nemesis can be purchased for $50-$78 dollars with Christmas deals/Nerf rebates.  Highly recommend the Rival rechargeable battery that can now be purchased for around that $15 mark which makes this blaster affordable as it also includes 100 rounds with it.    
Pros:
1)	100 Round capacity
2)	Easy and fast reload.  
3)	Amazing stock performance with rounds consistently firing at 100 feet per second with Rival rechargeable battery.  
4)	Accurate.  
5)	Rival rounds are durable and will generally last quite a bit longer than the traditional dart  
6)	Hopper system – no need for additional magazines.  
Cons – The blaster literally has no cons in my opinion but there are a few things to note with Rival rounds in general:
1)	With long range shots, Rival rounds tend to lose speed quickly and die off just due to the physics of a ball vs dart.  You can boost rate of fire and initial FPS speed with mods but it will tail off with range regardless.  
2)	Can be used outside but ammo collection can be a bit more difficult with just the sheer number of rival ball ammunition and the fact that it settles to the ground quickly so can be a little difficult to spot.  The rounds are also fairly expensive but off brands are available. 

This blaster is a game changer.  The capacity, rate of fire, performance give you a distinct advantage over even modified blasters.  It. Is. Awesome.

Worked for 5 min before it died. Won't work at all. Total waste of money. Terrible Christmas gift. As an extra, fun to explain to a kid how Santa has to return it to Wal-Mart. Thanks for that...
