This is a really cool nerf toy. It does jam up sometimes but you just have to wiggle the clear part and it works.

Great blaster

I purchased mine on Clearance, so my opinion may be skewed by the lower price. 

Cool blaster! It feels heavy and solid and has a cool round shape, it looks like some kind of video game or science fiction weapon. I like the idea of the mechanism allowing for a pistol-type blaster to hold 15 rounds without needing a big magazine sticking out. When you prime the blaster, you can see the Rival round being rotated into the firing chamber through the clear section, it's fun to watch. 

My one big negative point is that it takes a bit of force to prime the gun, and it's important to pull back all the way strongly in one motion. There is a risk of the mechanism jamming if it gets interrupted partway. Nothing has happened to mine yet but the fear of jamming makes it a little less fun to casually play with.

High Capacity Hand Cannon

No clue why my first review was scrapped.  W-M didn't even offer an explanation.

Bought this on sort of a whim because I felt the need to SHOOT STUFF, without incurring any ancillary costs or risking any holes/dents in walls that are associated with Airsoft or airguns.  I had only discovered this new Nerf 10 days prior to purchase and thought it would be an interesting model, so then last week after having a not-so-good grocery shopping evening, I needed something to help me vent and decided to give it a whirl.  Ironically I ended up not opening it until numerous days later...not to mention the very next day post purchase I discovered a competitor put this up on sale!  Moot point now, since this is going right back.

While the Roundhouse XX-1500 is designed as a pistol, it is anything but!  The capacity of 15rnds already kind of gives it away, as that is the highest load count ever implemented in a pistol blaster.  It's sheer bulk and heft inherently attributes it as a primary weapon; good luck trying to find anything that can holster this beast--especially due to its unique shape.

Sidetracking a moment - I considered the equally-new Rival Charger MXX-1200 instead, which HIGHLY resembles the FNH P90, even down to shaping out where the shell ejection chute would be.  The only noticeable difference is lack of prominent forward grip with thumbhole.  I don't like flywheel blasters, specifically ones that require large batteries--6x C-cells in the case of the MXX-1200.  Then there's the GOOFBALL...or should I say IDIOTIC design of making it an integrated-mag. holding only 12rnds!!!!  They could've just as easily utilized the cylindrical magazines as used in many of the other Rival line, and have it lift up and pull backwards just like an actual P90.

Back to the XX-1500.  So many gripes I don't think it can fit here.  Lower cost and higher capacity tilted the scale in my selection.  Sadly, it is NOT a good model by any means.  As I read someone state, "... it is a bit over-engineered ...".  Apart from its size, it simply requires too much manipulation.  Loading ports are a bit too far behind, pointlessly forcing user to SQUEEEZE in the 3rd ball in each channel.  Doing so through 5 individual ones is somewhat silly, and optimally done from left of barrel filling each to full before moving onwards due to the internal cylinder's clockwise rotation.  Loading randomly could induce empty chambers in the cycle, forcing dry-firing, or wasted shots.  Like all Nerf blasters, once it is primed the action is locked and must be fired, meaning there's no way to rotate the cylinder to a loaded chamber.  The slide is of the pull-push design, meaning it does NOT return to battery after racking it.  (Reminiscent of the cheapo Marksman 1010 BB pistol and successors.)  Plus it is MASSIVE!!!!, i.e. it's larger than the entire barrel section of a Desert Eagle!  Small and/or weak hands may encounter difficulty using it.  Safety is ambidextrous, but above trigger and WAY TOO EASILY pushed up to disengage!  Equally worse is the frame above protrudes out making it difficult to engage.  Accessing jam port is complex.  The U-ish grip guard is a mixed blessing - a bit oversized but allows one to apply support hand on the front of it, or within the guard as is more typical in a pistol hold.  Then again with Nerf the support hand is usually always on the slide/charging handle, ready to prime the next shot.  Which brings up the misleading feature of "2 tactical rails", which is actually 2 sections both on top (12 o'clock), meaning optics only but you wouldn't ever mount one on the slide.

Alas we move onto quality--or lack thereof.  After a couple dry-fires, then I forget between 2 to 4 with rounds loaded, it was a good thing I had it pointed at my chest because an orange mushroom-shaped plastic with accompanying spring followed the ball out!  If I shot away from me I may not have even noticed the parts fly out.  This leaves some other piece loose and rattling in the air chamber.  Speaking of springs, all of them are spider-web thin!!!!  This includes the ones in the magazines pushing the followers, and I suspect behind the trigger as well because it is weak as heck!  This model was NOT built to last.  That essentially sums everything up.


P.S.: Forgot about stars (wrote this outside of a browser).  Tempted to give 1, but for now I reluctantly push it to 2 due to Nerf's design effort.  May reserve a 1-star for the MXX-1200 if or when I write up a review for that.

Interesting design and concept...poor execution!

I want to like this blaster because it looks neat and has an interesting operation. The Artemis, its bigger primary-class brother, is one of my favourite blasters of all time. But the Roundhouse is simply too heavy to use with one hand and, while I never experienced any issues myself, is notorious for jams. I used it for half of a battle and decided to sell it.

It's a good blaster for short battles around the house (especially if you find it on clearance) but serious Nerfers should look elsewhere.
