My 7 year old got this for Christmas and my 6 year old wanted one too. This is the smallest "big" gun we could find with the rapid fire. The girls love it. They wanted something of the same caliber as the neighborhood boys so that they could all play together

We are a Nerf fanatic household.  We actually bought one of these in October, and another child wanted it as well, so we bought it as a gift.  We might have to buy 2 more soon, because this one is a big hit in our household.  It doesn't need batteries and it holds quite a bit of Nerf darts, so there is not as much need for reloading.

Great Gift Idea

My grandson loved it but discovered a flaw in manufacturing so that he could not load it.  It was delivered to their store and when returned they did not have one like it so they let him exchange it for another he liked and all was well in his world.

It was a hit!

As a mother it drives me nuts to be shot with nerf guns, but my teenager thinks it's hilarious.  He loves this gun and the fact that it shoots so quickly and doesn't require batteries! Always a plus in my book! We've had it for a few weeks and it gets used every day.  Definitely a worthwhile purchase.

Lots of fun!

We only have one child to buy for for Christmas. And he is getting older, and it's difficult to find anything he likes, unless the gifts are very expensive. This gift is large. Over two feel long, and my family feels that we hit the nail on the head with this gift. It allows any one of any age to revert back to being g a kid and having some fun! I am very happy with this purchase, and I have decided to purchase five more elaborate nerf guns for others!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am reviewing the Nerf Zombie Strike Doominator through the Spark Review Program. This Nerf gun is rated for ages 8+. Included with the gun is 24 “bullets”. It has 4 drums that hold the bullets. These drums rotate so you can shoot 24 bullets before needing to reload. This is crucial when fighting zombies. It has a front handle to grip the gun and you can use it in three different positions. There is some assembly required. You have to attach two of the drums which are no problem. There is a “flip-trigger” which rotates the drums. There are two different ways to fire the bullets. The first one, you move the Slide all the way back, and then move it forward. Pull the trigger to fire. Repeat. The second way to fire is called the Slam Fire. Hold the trigger down (back). Move the Slide back and forward rapidly to fire all 6 darts. Press the Flip-trigger to move the drums. I like Nerf products. They hold up well. I have Nerf products that have lasted through a number of grand kids, seasons of hard play and still work as well as when I first got them. I am looking forward to this one lasting just as long.

make sure and adult helps the child even if they are 9/10 because we  had to take the whole gun apart to get the barrel to sit right.  our son decided to put one of the barrels in on the top before snapping in the bottom part of the barrel first.  That was my only issue. we had to take it apart to fix , it doesn't just snap back out. Our son loves it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I decided to review the Doominator because I thought this would be a great way to pester my spouse and loads of fun for me to be able to keep shooting him. Little did I know that there is a serious community of Nerfers'; so I cannot comment or compare on how the gun would hold out in a Nerf War.

• For me, what makes the Doominator so much fun is that it holds a large capacity of bullets.

• The gun has 4 drums with 6 shots per drum for a total of 24 bullets.

• Once you have run through the first load you can pull the Flip trigger to change barrels, so more action and less reloading.

• Your front grip/handle can be adjusted to 3 different positions in order to find what works best for you. (The instructions tell you to put the handle in the downward position, but for me it's more comfortable on the left side, plus it doesn't get in the way when you are priming your gun.)

• You have the ability to do rapid or continuous fire by holding down the fire trigger and continuously priming.

• No batteries required. (I'm not a fan of batteries unless they are rechargeable so this is a big plus for me.)

A couple of things I would say would be a bit of a con:

• This is a fairly large gun and anyone who decides to use it would need to have some upper strength if you plan on carrying it around for a long period of time.

• The length, because it is so much longer unless you have longer arms it becomes a bit uncomfortable holding.

Otherwise, the Doominator seems to work fine and is a ton of fun when you want to pester you spouse or older children.

Payback Time

Among the guns of the zombie strike series, this one has superior capacity but far less velocity and accuracy. If you need a harder hitting and more accurate gun, the Slingfire is the way to go. However, the ability to blast through 24 darts within a few seconds is pretty nice. Keeping the trigger pulled allows for pump firing which makes it a great gun for unleashing copious amounts of darts in a short period. The functionality is lower quality than expected, as the rotation trigger can get stuck and require multiple attempts to rotate in the new drum, and after firing 24 shots, we have usually seen 2 or 3 darts that didn't fire. If you need capacity, this is a great nerf gun, but if power and accuracy matter to you, your money is best spent elsewhere. However, don't overlook the value of intimidation, because overall, this is a pretty mean looking gun. Enjoy!

Capacity is a plus

So the rotating mechanism sometimes doesn't align correctly when you switch barrel turrets, meaning you have to use your hand to manually align it (and that removes the fun from having all the turrets). Ontop of that, you kind of have to use the handles on the sides, as screwing it in vertically will make your hand smack into the plastic of the gun. the "stock / handle" thing is utterly worthless, as it doesn't give you enough room to properly fit your thumb for your hand, as well as being too short to effectively shoulder (and a good stock is a MUST HAVE for a slam fire primary blaster). To boot this doesn't boast many tactical rails, it isn't accurate, and the range, while somewhat acceptable, is still below the average of Nerf and BuzzBee.

This has failed on all levels. Stay away.
