I bought this dehydrator to make dog treats. I use it at least once a week. It's quiet and easy to clean. I also bought 4 extra trays. I recommend this product and also the price was great.

I bought this as a present. I have exactly the same for 10 yrs. Been making jerky, dried fruit and veggies. Always turns out good. Temp control is what you want. This has it. Get it.

This dehydrator is so quiet!  It works well, and without having to rotate the trays.  Everything cleans up so easily, too.  I love that it has the specific temperature settings,  but I do wish it had a timer on it also.  I've read the reviews and have seen that others have solved this problem by plugging the dehydrator into a timer.  I plan to do the same thing but it hasn't been enough of a problem for me to actually go out and buy one yet.  I did make beef jerky and went by a recipe I found online.  I let the jerky go for about half the time it was supposed to and it was already very dry.  So I do recommend watching the food you are drying until you get used to how this machine works.  I would definitely recommend this dehydrator.

Love this dehydrator!

This is my first dehydrator. I bought the product based on customer reviews and it has performed very well as rated. I am unable to rate the product durability as I have only used it for two weeks -- six times within the two weeks to make beef jerky!

Great food dehydrator

I read the reviews for this & it was rated in the top three. It's easy to care for & the fan being on the top is great because it prevents food from dropping into it, etc. I bought two additional trays along with The Dehydrator Bible which is well written. Since receiving this unit, I have quickly gotten hooked on dehydrating food. Fruit like bananas & apples taste better than you can get them at the store even if they are not hard like the ones in the store. It does the job well. I saw a dehydrator at another store for a lot less money, but it did not look to be the same quality as this one. The trays are dishwasher safe if done using the top rack, but I prefer to wash & dry them by hand. Ordering additional trays is also the thing to do as it takes a lot of produce to make a good batch of banana or apple chips which go faster than you can dry them. I got this as a birthday gift from my husband & I have really enjoyed using it since receiving it.

Quality product for a great price!

I bought this dehydrator because I borrowed the same but older model from a friend. This is a great unit for the price. You can expand a few more trays as you want as well. Easy clean up. I've done 3 batches of jerky, 2 batches of apples and a batch of bananas.

Great dehydrator for the cost

Had one of these before.  After 3 years the fan/heat element failed.  That being said, it is a great little inexpensive unit and I saved the trays from the previous one so now I have 10!  Sure, you can get an Excalibur or other expensive unit that might last longer, but for the price I can replace this a lot of times.  I do seasonal items and only what I can to supplement our family and this dehydrator is plenty for me.  It has heat adjustments, mesh trays and solid trays for doing applesauce or pumpkin puree or fruit rollups.  I have never made jerky.  I do make dog treats.  Obviously I liked it enough to buy a second unit. :)

Dehydrator

I love it! I enjoyed using my friend's dehydrator which was the same brand, but a 400. She wanted it back-although I really wasn't done with it-so I needed my own. The Nesco 600 had very good reviews and is very similar to the 400; so I already knew how easy it was to clean and use. The 600 has temperature control which tells for what things each temperature is recommended for written right on the machine- which is very nice- while the Nesco 400 only had one temperature. I doubt that I would use it to make jerky, but it has the capability, and I might surprise myself! I'm using it a lot this fall for apples, pears, and herbs. I've even made fruit roll ups. The machine came with fruit roll up plates. The homemade fruit roll ups are amazing! Hide them from the kids! The only thing I think would be nice on this very impressive machine is an on/off switch, but the cord is short for safety reasons and easy enough to unplug.

It is what I need and more

I had a nesco dehydradter. Worked just fine until my cat knocked it off the counter trying to get to the jerky I was making. I ordered this one, kept the trays from the old one. It comes with 5 trays. I added my 4 trays and finished making jerky. All 9 trays dried perfectly. I'm very happy with this product. The only thing I would change is an on/off switch.

The main reason we purchased this product was to dry herbs and the reduced time it advertised. I first use was to dry some basil from our herb garden. The instruction book stated it would take 24 hours on the lowest setting, after 30 hours the basil still was not dried and we had to play with the settings to get the basil to dry.

This dehydrator did not work from day 1. I took it out of the box and plugged it in. The heating element turned on the fan didn't. I waited a few minutes thinking maybe it would turn on when it warmed up. Nope, heating element died and the fan never came on. Now I'll be looking at other brand dehydrators.
