this thing is hot enough to cook anything just make sure you have a three prong outlet to plug it into with sufficient power supply it pulls a lot of electricity but works very well

Do all my cooking on the single burner and they are very reliable. Have tried others over the years, but this SB-01 heats fast and boils faster than others I have had—have lasted longer also.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this in an effort to use it with a pressure canner because my induction cooktop will not work with the pressure canner.

I have not yet used it with the pressure canner so I cannot evaluate it for that.

I did use it with the water bath canner and while it took a long time to get to the boil state, it maintained it well.

Good Alternative for Non Induction Cooking Pans

Heats up every nice and brings water to a boil pretty fast for a hot plate. i havent had it long but it seems to be a better qualty build that others ive used. I use them a lot so im actually ordering another one now at this price.

This 1500 watt burner does much better than those with lower wattage for cooking. Much faster too. This one seems durable as well.

Better than Others

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've tried them all.  This is the best.  Even heat surface, washable and even serviceable as there are only two moving parts.

The real deal

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It seems to be constructed in a high quality fashion, not of super cheap materials.  However, it uses about 1200 watts not 1500 watts and stays extremely hot for a very long time after it is turned off!  This is a potential burn and fire hazard.  I recommend a hotplate that uses a burner coil which cools faster, or even an induction hotplate which cools very fast but is more expensive and has some limitations.

High Quality Construction but a Potential Hazard

Howdy! We bought this NESCO 1500 watt burner to use for canning and such. Since purchasing the unit earlier this month (June), we've used it 5 times with a 16 quart pressure canner. We're pleased with its performance thus far, and it actually gets things boiling faster than our old 1800 watt double-burner unit. ~ As other reviewers have noted in their posts, this NESCO burner does make a humming/buzzing noise from time to time, but it's nothing we can't live with. At this time (6/13/22), we would recommend this unit. ~ Happy Canning
