Grab a cup of coffee or a cup of tea - and settle down for an exciting, fun and heart thumping adventure.  Elizabeth Goddard's Never Let Go - is a FANTASTIC read from start to finish.  Compelling characters, beautiful settings and plenty of twists, turns and suspense left me wanting more of the story.  I enjoyed it immensely and was sad to see it end.  I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

This is the first book I have read by Elizabeth Goddard and I have found another favorite romantic suspense author. Elizabeth Goddard combines fast-paced and action-filled plot with relatable and angst-filled characters. The plot has many layers and surprises that you won't be able to guess who the villain is and the motive until the very end! There are themes of forgiveness, grace, and acceptance of God's mercy infused into the main characters' development. If you are a fan of romantic suspense, you will not want to miss this one.

Willow, our heroine, is determined, feisty, resourceful, and compassionate as a forensic genealogist. She is unfortunately blindsided when family tragedy strikes and gets involved in a case of trying to find a baby who was taken 21 years ago. Austin, her ex-boyfriend, is strong, loyal, and intelligent but lives in a world of regrets and guilt. He's now a private investigator who gets involved in Willow's case due to her grandfather's request. These two work so well together, despite their differences and tumultuous past, and I can't wait to see more of them as the series unfolds. I'm hoping the next book will be about Heath, Austin's oldest brother, since he had a large role in this particular story.

great romantic suspense to start the series

Elizabeth Goddard has written a book that lives up to its title because 'Never Let Go' grabs your attention from page one and it is hard to put it down! The prologue introduces us to an event that occurred twenty-one years ago and it is a cold case that has never been solved. Now, in the present, forensic genealogist Willow Anderson is determined to try one last time to find a baby girl that was stolen from a hospital in Houston and never returned to her mother. It is a case that Willow's grandfather intended to look into before his sudden death and Willow feels an obligation to help the still grieving mother who is now facing death from leukemia. The sudden appearance of Willow's former boyfriend Austin McKade seems very awkward but she soon realizes that she needs his FBI experience and expertise to continue. Their partnership quickly reveals that the feelings they once shared are still very much alive!

I enjoyed the apparent romantic tension between Willow and Austin. Willow wants to trust him but her past hurt runs deep. It is only when she continues to be threatened that Willow realizes that Austin is the only one who can protect her and help her to find this young woman. Austin still loves Willow but he has a secret that keeps him from sharing his true feelings. It is only when his secret is revealed at the latter part of this book that we can understand his initial reluctance to help Willow with this search.

There are so many things to love about this story!  It has circumstances that I could never have imagined and there are unseen threats and almost non-stop danger. Secrets are finally uncovered but I was kept guessing until the very end just who was behind all of the threats and who was responsible for the kidnapping twenty-one years ago. I wasn't familiar with forensic genealogy so this was an intriguing element and I also enjoyed learning about the Jackson Hole region of Wyoming and the Bridger-Teton National Forest, the area where much of the story takes place. But most of all, I loved the strong  faith element running throughout the plot. Talking with God is often mentioned and one example is as Willow tries to escape from an assailant.

"Help me, God! Help me get away. Someone has to live to tell the story." And a short time later, Willow again prays. "I'm doing the best I can and it's not enough. Jesus, help me!"

You will definitely want to read this book if you enjoy romantic suspense and Christian fiction. 'Never Let Go' by Elizabeth Goddard gets 5 stars from me and I look forward to the next book in this Uncommon Justice series that will allow Austin's brother Heath McKade to have his own story.

Romantic Suspense At Its Best!

Elizabeth Goddard sets a high standard for her new Christian suspense series “Uncommon Justice” with her first book in this series.  There's heart-pounding suspense on nearly every page.  Willow Anderson is following in her grandfather's footsteps as a forensic genealogist.  After his untimely death, she takes over the investigation of the last case he was working on: The 21 year cold case of the abduction of a new born baby girl from her mother's hospital room.  The girl's mother has a terminal illness, and desperately wants to be reunited with her daughter while she still has time to spend with her.  What seems to be a routine investigation quickly turns deadly as Willow has a couple of attempts made on her life.  Nothing in this case is as it seems, and Willow turns to help from an unlikely source:  Her ex-boyfriend Austin, who offers to protect her as she investigates the facts in this case.  The setting of Jackson Hole, Wyoming makes a great backdrop for this story and the location adds to the suspense that builds all throughout the book.

The characters of WIllow and Austin are complex and intriguing. Both are fiercely loyal, intelligent and determined, but 
still struggle with their relationship.  As they fall deeper into danger, they fall more deeply in love with each other.  Learning to trust each other becomes vital to solving the case before someone else gets killed.  There were enough twists and turns in this story to keep my attention and the answer to the mystery isn't clear until the final chapter.  I'll be keeping up with this series to see what happens next.

Exciting and inspirational story

Never Let Go by Elizabeth Goddard is the first book in her Uncommon Justice series. Willow Anderson is a Forensic Genealogist following in her grandfather's footsteps. Trying to solve a twenty-year-old cold case puts her life in jeopardy. Ex-FBI agent, Austin McKade offers to protect and help Willow in her search for answers. From the heart-wrenching open scene to the climatic last page the author kept you turning the page for more. I didn't want the story to end; even though I stayed up way too late finishing it! I can't wait for the next installment. I loved how Willow wanted/needed answers from Austin but she didn't push him. She gave him space to talk when he was ready. I would highly recommend this book.

Riveting Suspense

Elizabeth Goddard has entered into the romantic suspense field with her latest novel, “Never Let Go,” a tale that keeps the reader guessing to the very end.

Still reeling from the hit-and-run death of her beloved grandfather and business partner, JT, forensic genealogist Willow Anderson decides to take on his final case — a woman searching for her baby daughter who was kidnapped 21 years ago. Willow is dismayed to learn JT had requested help from her former flame, Austin McKade, but when more and more disasters hit Willow, she realizes she needs to accept help from Austin, a former FBI agent who now works as a private investigator.

As the case takes them from Seattle and desperate mom Katelyn's Texas home to Austin's hometown in Wyoming, he and Willow work to put together the clues to find Katelyn's daughter. And while in Wyoming, Austin must face the demons from his own past, including an alcoholic and abusive father, while rebuilding a relationship with his estranged brother Heath.

“Never Let Go” is filled with many different puzzle pieces. Willow and Austin must work quickly to determine which pieces fit together while constantly fighting off death threats and overcoming their own self doubts. And as they struggle to determine who stole the baby and why, will they also be able to overcome past issues in their relationship to build a romance once again?

The author does a great job of building strong and likable characters who are also deeply relatable, with very human fears and weaknesses. Told mainly in alternating perspectives of Willow and Austin, “Never Let Go” is a great, fast-paced romantic suspense that's also filled with so many amazing concepts: protecting those we love; you're not alone because God is always with you; we must use our time and gifts that God gives us; we must be deliberate with our time and with others; overcoming regret and blame; the pain and destruction of hiding secrets; we're always connected to our roots; and God is our rock and will never leave us nor forsake us.

I truly enjoyed “Never Let Go,” which was my first novel by Goddard. Fans of authors like Lynette Eason, Lisa Harris, Patricia Bradley, Sandra Orchard and Terri Blackstock will truly enjoy this novel.

I'm looking forward to the series' next installment, which tells Heath's story and is due in Fall 2019.

Letting Go of Secrets

Forensic genealogist Willow Anderson and her old flame ex-FBI agent Austin McKade embark on a dangerous adventure trying to find a baby girl who was abducted 21 years previously.  Willow's grandfather was hired by a woman dying from cancer to find her lost baby girl.  With his sudden death, Willow and Austin take over and travel all the way from Seattle to Jackson Hole, Wyoming.  Will they find the girl, survive, and possibly find their way back to each other?  There is only one way to find out!  

I loved this book so much.  I'll admit that I'm a big fan of Elizabeth Goddard.  I've read most of her books and with each book I love her more and more.  This is no exception.  She has a gift for taking her readers on a very intense wild ride filled with so much suspense that you are on the edge of your seat the whole time.   She also knows how to weave in romance and spirituality that leaves you feeling hopeful despite the never-ending setbacks.  Her books are filled with grace and redemption.  This one is no exception.  I loved getting to know Willow and Austin.  They each had flaws, but together they make such an amazing team and love story.   You definitely root for this couple to begin again.  I also loved that it was set mainly in Wyoming!  I have a thing for Wyoming.  It made the story complete!  I really think if you are looking for a clean christian suspense with some romance then this is the book for you.  I'd love for this to become a movie.  I can't wait for book 2.  What a great start for a wonderful series!
