Okay, it is true that this shoe is kind of clunky looking.  I bought colorful shoe laces to help their appearance.  But the shoe is supportive and comfortable.  It has enough toe room.  It is built on the New Balance SL-2 last.  To me, this last fact says it all.

I have worn the same style walking shoe from New Balance for over 10 years. I purchase a new pair once a year because they last for that long and are very comfortable. I have tried other brands and styles but this one is the best for me.

New Balance walking shoe

I have trouble getting shoes wide enough because my feet swell. These are perfect. I have had another really old pair that I was wearing but checked to see if they still carried this style. They did and I can now wear new shoes.

Old but new

So I have sore feet and I my daughter bought these shoes for me.  They are comfortable and a good quality shoe. I wish the cushion inside was a little more, but for people with normal good feet these shoes would be awesome!  I like them and wear them and they work good for me. My son also has a pair of NB and he loves them.

I have really enjoyed walking in New Balance shoes. They are comfortable and easy to wear. If they get dirty, I take a hot water rag and those shoes clean up very easily. Love the support they give me. New Balance is a great shoe!!!!

Comfort shoe!!!

Great shoes, wide toe box- which I need to do foot surgery.  Very comfortable even with ortho inserts.

These are the only shoes I wear.  This number is getting hard to find.  I hope they don't quit making it.

My one and only shoes

I have worn New Balance shoes for years. I didn't realize I had put too many wearing miles on my last pairs., until my feet had started to really ache. So I ordered some new shoes and I already am feeling the difference.

577 New Balance walking shoes

This shor rubbed a blister on the top of my toe. I was wearing thinner socks. With thicker socks it hasn't been an issue. My custom orthotic fit nicely.

Mostly good

I need a wide toe base, which used to be listed as sl2.  When I inquired about  sl2, I was given this shoe as the only sl2 now being made.  That surprised me, but I bought it. It does, indeed have the broad toe base that I want/need, but it is a stiff and jot very comfortable shoe.  I am very sorry that new balance no longer makes updated shoes with a broad toe base.

Critique of 577

I am disappointed with the shoes and have only worn them a couple of times. I am 87 yrs old and walk about a mile everyday with my dog. My right foot has a small bunion area on the right side which becomes irritated when wearing a shoe that is tight on the sides. That area became sore both times I wore the shoes for just a short time. I tried loosening the laces all the way down but that did not help. This is why I ordered a wide 2E size. It works with other shoes but not these. If I could exchange them for a larger width pair, I would do so, but I guessed that you would not accommodate me having worn them on two occasions. Your shoes were touted as being the best walking shoe on the market on google, but they have not proven to be that with me.
