(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) I have naturally dark brown hair, that drastically lightened over the summer. I was looking to go a little darker for autumn and winter, so this campaign came just in time! I chose the colour "Natural Mahogany Black" and was not disappointed with the end result. The colour is rich and left my hair feeling soft! Although the chemical smell was a little strong, the product was easy to apply and it was the perfect amount for my mid-back length, medium/fine hair.

The colour looks pretty much black in regular lighting, but under brighter light or the sun, you really see the mahogany shine through! It's not super bright, just enough to compliment my (fair/medium-NC20) skin tone. It's beautiful!

I only wish that there was more ColourSeal conditioner, as I feel every time wash my hair more of the red ends up down the drain.

Clairol saves you money while giving you a hair salon quality look. I like the fact that it is easy to follow and only takes 45 minutes.

Beautiful looking Hair

First, let me say that I think whether this product is for you depends on your hair color and whether you are trying to cover up grey hair vs. non-grey roots of another color. I use the Nice 'n Easy Root Touch-up to cover totally grey roots on dyed medium brown hair. For me, the Root Touch-Up actually works better than regular hair color.

Like all hair color, this stuff changes (oxidizes) after a few shampoos. So, Dark Brown initially starts out VERY dark, but after 2 to 3 shampoos, it lightens up a bit. ALL permanent hair coloring does this, but I find that the Root Touch-Up lightens LESS over time than regular hair dye. In my case, I am covering up VERY grey roots in my center part and along my temples and it covers VERY well, blending nicely into the rest of my hair. I estimate that my hair is probably 60-70% grey, but because I color it all the time, I only see it at the roots. And no matter what hair color I use, I can see a teeny bit of grey within a week because hair GROWS. Other than parting one's hair differently, there isn't much you can do about that. Grey roots against dark hair are obviously far more noticeable than grey roots in blond hair. But in terms of actual grey coverage? The Root Touch-Up is PERFECT. Unlike other "dark brown" regular hair dye, my grey hair actually becomes dark brown with the Root Touch-Up. Every other hair color I've tried gives me some light or orange-y version of brown because the grey is not fully covered. Although the product contains only a small amount of product, the pigment is much more highly concentrated than regular hair coloring and a little goes a long way. I think that there's a safety advantage with this too: probably best to use the least amount of hair dye you can.

Also -- and this is key for me -- the color of the Dark Brown itself is a true neutral brown. I detest red and brass overtones, which are present even in brown dyes advertised as "ash" or "neutral". THIS PRODUCT IS A TRUE NEUTRAL BROWN. As my hair grows (I wear it long, to my mid-back), the color of Root Touch-Up does lighten a bit BUT STAYS NEUTRAL BROWN. No red overtones. No brassy overtones. This is critical for me and what makes this product ideal for me. It's the ONLY hair coloring product I've ever use that gives me the brown shade I want.

I find that my roots stay colored for about 3 weeks with Root Touch-Up; this is the same amount of time for me as with regular hair coloring. Again, if you have high-contrast roots (grey on black or dark brown), you are obviously going to see the regrowth in a more prominent way. Hair coloring comes with many tradeoffs but for me, the trueness of the color, the excellent grey coverage, as well as the ease of application make this a great product.

Great for Covering Up Grey Spots!

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) I have received my kit today.. in a hurry to try this I opted to do some highlights rather than an overall color. I still have plenty left in the box to do a full coloring at a later time.
I have light brown hair that tends to get a blond color with the summer sun. Since winter is at our doorstep and sunning outside is not an option at this time.. I used the nice n' easy natural light neutral blonde to highlight my dull brown hair.
Here's how to proceed to highlight your hair with nice n' easy coloring in any of their blond shades. Mix a small portion of each tube (calculating the contents one tube is heavier than the other so you need to calculate the differences). Using a artist brush, brush on long lines onto your hair at the different areas you want to highlight. Then once all the product you mixed is used up. Take a comb and comb through each and every strand of your hair. Voila wait the indicated time for a full coloring and wash out, style as usual. Your hair has seen sunshine in a box! Love the results!

wow super nice highlights!

I didn't want to change the colour so much that it would leave me unrecognizable or like a complete fool to those around me. I dyed my hair a Natural Deep Brown shade, which is shade that's within the range that I preferred it.
After I dyed my hair, it looked great! It gave my hair a brown colour (thank god or I would have been exceptionally disappointed) that really made it look natural with my skin colour. I was really impressed by the product. It turned out exactly how it looks on the box, which doesn't always happen with other hair dyes sometimes. My hair is smooth and it feels exactly the way it did before I added the hair dye. It didn't leave my hair brittle or rough. The conditioner it came with was simply amazing. It smelled nice and works really well. This is one company that I have previously heard a lot of good reviews for and I daresay, it's true!

Natural Deep Brown a Success!

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) I chose to go from red to a medium brown and the colour is great, and the red in my hair helped with natural tones too.

I often colour at home to save money but have been using foam hair colours lately, it was a bit of a difference using a liquid colour again. It seemed harder to get through all of my hair.
The Nice n Easy did a great job covering my greys and it does bring out natural highlights where many at home colours are very one dimensional.

After colouring, despite using the CC cream, my hair felt a little wiry and hard to manage. I ended up washing again with my regular shampoo & conditioner to be able to really staighten my hair and it took a few washes to get back to normal - maybe because I had to leave it on longer to cover the grey hairs.

I would probably try the Nice N Easy foam next time to see if I can get the same beautiful colour and coverage but less harsh on the hair

Love The Colour But...

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) The colour matching was actually pretty good. Unfortunately I have a lot of greys that need to be covered and this didn't do the trick. I left it on as long as the maximum noted, but still found that my greys were not properly coloured.

It did blend well with my current colour, but with the greys not being covered properly I would need to redo it anyway.

Not Enough Coverage

My hair was dark blonde and while this product lightened my hair a shade, what I noticed the most was how shiny my hair was after and how much dimension it seemed to gain. I wouldn't use this product for an extreme change but I would recommend this hair color for all that it promises to do- enhance your hair a shade lighter or a shade darker. I loved the opportunity to try this product!

Enhanced my natural color

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) I think that while I was pleased with the initial colour and coverage, I am now reassessing the situation. After 6 - 7 days, the colour has faded and grey streaks are seen at my temples -- and this is not new grey showing, what was covered by the product has worn off. While the application of the product was straight forward, and initial coverage was good, I am afraid that the colour coverage did not last very long. It appears that this product is only a "short-gap" product, which has a limited number of days of coverage. I think that I would only use this product if I was going somewhere and was not able to schedule the time to properly colour my hair. Unfortunately, the number of times that this would happen are limited. If the colour lasted from 2 - 3 weeks, it would be worth my while, but when it lasts less than a week, then I think that I would not invest the time or money on this product unless I was in dire straights.
