Popcorn Maker

For Kids

Can achieve high pop rates, but may leave some kernels unpopped.

Has a flavor profile similar to movie theater popcorn.

Can be excellent, but also shows imperfections.

I've been looking for a larger popcorn maker and had the space available for this one, so I got it. Assembly is easy, be sure to lock the actual popcorn maker onto the stand, (a step I almost forgot). It feels a little flimsy, but so far I've made popcorn every day this week, and have cleaned it vigorously, no sign of anything breaking yet.
A degreaser works well for cleaning and I usually come back and clean the glass parts with windex afterwards, leave airdry.

Helpful hints: Use coconut oil for best popcorn, then once cooked, drizzle butter flavored popcorn oil over your popcorn.

Leave the door open while cooking to let the hot air/steam escape, close the door once the "serious popping" begins.

Do not submerge the bowl in water, but u can fill it up with water to let it soak if needed.
Clean with degreaser and windex, a stainless steel polish/cleaner will keep the bowl shiny!

walmart.com

I bought the first one about a month ago. I read several of the comments here before purchasing and while the negative comments may be justifiable to those that had a bad experience, I still thought I would give this machine a try simply because Walmart beat everyone else's price and there were a lot of positive comments. I am glad I made the initial purchase! It was very easy to assemble, it looks great and best of all, it pops great popcorn! We use Gold Medal 4 oz. pre-mix (Coconut Oil & kernals) along with a 1/2 teaspoon of Flavacol for excellent movie theatre popcorn. While your at Walmart you can also pick up several different popcorn seasonings like White Cheddar, Butter, Kettle Corn, Jalapeno, etc.

Clean up takes about 15-20 minutes with a moist paper towel and a cheap 1 inch paint brush similar to what you would use to baste bbq sauce. Empty all the left over popcorn (if there is any) with the plastic scoop provided and use the brush to sweep all the remaining popcorn pieces and unpopped kernals into the convenient catch tray and then wipe down everything with paper towels. Remove the kettle and clean in a similar fashion.

As for moving the machine around, it has latches that attach and secure the machine to the cart and is very easy to move without fear of the machine turning over or separating from the base.

This is a very good machine for home use in my opinion. For $15 more, you can purchase the 2 year extended warranty to ease your concerns. I liked this machine so much, I recently bought another one to give away at our annual car show (www.bayshorefinerides.net). Based on my experience with this popcorn machine, I would reccomend it to anyone for home or light use. The free site to store shipping is also a big plus!

I Bought Two!

My husband and I put this together and it was pretty easy after we fixed one of the parts. There are two braces on which to attach the wheels, one right and one left. We were sent two rights or lefts so couldn't assemble the unit. We didn't want to go thru the trouble of returning and or exchanging the product (which WalMart would gladly have done) so we went to a local welder and had him move one of the brackets to the other side thereby making a righty and a lefty. After that it assembled very easily. We were excited to make our first batch of popcorn and weren't disappointed. We used Orville Redenbacher's popcorn and it worked really well. We followed the directions and used one scooper full (1/4 cup) which made much more than we could eat so we saved the rest for later. It was just like at the movies but we were at home! Clean up was also easy afterward..just used a damp microfiber cloth to wipe it down and it was done. It doesn't take up too much space and looks really nice. Hopefully it will hold up well but I expect it will. We're very satisfied at this time and only wish there were more of us so we could use it more!

Fun, looks good and really works!

Pretty good little machine, keep reading that people say it was smaller than expected... It was pretty much what I had expected - but maybe that's because I know multiple people with similar sized makers. My boyfriend is a popcorn nut and he said it was one of the best gifts in years. For the price it is a decent machine. So many people gripe about quality, but if you wanted a top of the line industrial strength popcorn maker then maybe you should pay for one. Aesthetically pleasing. Easy assembly. Popcorn is good. You do have kernels left at the bottom - but no more than the ratio of kernels to popcorn you would get in a bag (obviously greater number of kernels to popcorn with a larger popper). I would buy again. You get what you pay for, this was worth it. Don't listen to the whiners if your looking for a decent machine for a decent price.

Popcorn lover

Popper looks great and is just the right size for a small home. Assembly was easy enough even with the throw away tools provided. I read other reviews about not adding more popcorn then one scoop allows because of concerns in scorching. I found this to be true, as the corn did scorch when I added an extra 1/2 scoop. While it pops the corn just like they do at the movies, I have yet to be able to get the same results(looks or taste), but I think this maybe due to something I need to change and not necessary the fault of the popper. Because of it's size, the kettle is difficult to clean, especially up under the lid, which if not done entirely will cause the popper to smoke as it burns off the excess oil during the next use.

I purchased this product after so many microwave blunders never being satisfied with the perfect popcorn. I'm very satisfied with the quality of this product. "The perfection comes in with the kit of popcorn I ordered at Walmart" I found it a little hard to assemble but nonetheless it looks perfect in it's design. I wish it was less expensive, but well worth the buy.

Jenny

Popcorn lovers dream

We bought this popcorn machine on the stand and happy we did. We can take it to any room and enjoy a movie time popcorn. It makes wonderful popcorn.
We had trouble getting the gear to line up so it stirrer would go around. We called the company several times for help and twice we got no help at all. We were told to call our Walmart store, well they could not take it back since it was bought on line and they did not sell them in the store, but he was more help than the company customer service. He told us to call again and if we did not get anywhere to come back and he would call them for us and get help. We finally got the stirrer to work only because my husband figured a way to fix the problem himself, we don't know how long that will work but for now it is doing ok.

Let's go to the movies

When I purchased this it was going to be for an event, It was nothing like I thought it would be, it took a long time to pop the popcorn. You also have to be careful and don't leave it unattended becuase you would burn the popcorn . The cleaning part is horrible. You have to be sure that you clean it right away if not it would leave lots of stain.

First problem was that they painted of the screw threads, so it very difficult to get that screw in. Then they forgot to drill a hole all the through on one of the base legs. So could not put that long bolt through at all. Finally to top it off, there was a sloppy welding job on one the leg piece on the inside that needs to fit over the popcorn storage base. We had to file the extra/excess metal down to get it to fix some what. I took over 4 hours to put together, which is unexceptable.

Assembly was horrible.

I bought this to use at small functions within our community. I have used it twice, with about 10 pops each time, and find that it is not satisfactory. I've used two different oils and two different brands of popcorn. Although it makes decent popcorn, there are far more unpopped kernels than there are popped. There is a small drawer that catches the unpopped kernels and it is full after each time i use it. The kernels also fall underneath that drawer and they are impossible to remove. I'm disappointed. I thought this would be a great addition to our club house. I'll use it one more time and if I get the same result I will be checking out the warranty I took out. There is no trouble shooting section in the manual either.

Not what I thought
