After comparison shopping, I chose this video doorbell based on the advantages of no monthly data storage fees, the price, and the positive reviews, and I'm glad I did.  If I could give 10 stars, I would.  Installation was relatively simple and took about 30 minutes to get it up and running, including downloading the software and getting it set up.  The HD image from the camera is bright and clear and the angle is wide enough that it “sees” approximately 25 feet to the end of my yard, even at night.  Its microphone and speaker pick up and transmit voices clearly and easily understood.  Because this doorbell was hardwired to the existing doorbell wiring, the regular doorbell chime sounds as well as the chime in the software, which I like. Storage of “events” is on the included micro SD card, and it is easy to clear the unnecessary “events” to increase storage space on the card.  Predictably, resolution declines somewhat as the view is zoomed out toward the street, but it's still sharp enough to make out details of vehicles (e.g. the mail truck) and basic descriptions of people.  Perhaps the motion sensor is a bit too sensitive; in default mode, it kept alerting to motion detected in some moderately high winds, when plants and the neighbor's flag were being blown by the wind. A minor tweak of the settings fixed that issue, such that it did not alert to motion detected when a cat walked through the yard; however, it did alert when a large grasshopper flew near and across the field of the camera.  Once this was solved, the only issues that I have with it is that (1) there is no version of the software for a desktop computer – only for a smartphone.  (2) It also occasionally disconnects itself and a manual reconnection is necessary, and (3) the software could been designed with additional buttons so that when in the settings or events mode, a button could take you back to the live video instead of the extra steps of having to clear the cookies out of the smartphone and restart the software.  These minor glitches aside, this video doorbell is an excellent value for the price and I highly recommend it.

No very happy with it take forever to load

Stopped working after a month.  Had to replace as it did not do what it was suppose to do.

My experience was not good.

Please DON'T BUY it...Piece of junk...After many, many years I have to save goodbye to my OLD SAMSUNG wired video doorbell, I bougth this ALC beacause I thougth it was a good brand. but during this weekend what a surprise...I expense hours trying to make it run without success. 2.4G hz does not guaranteed with the technology ALC use. They need to redesign it...what does ALC expect? to use my doorbell 3 ft from my modem?? come on....it's an outdoor product

POOR WIFI connection!!

I could not make this work.
It was found, and recognized on my cell phone.
However when I tried the next step the device could not be connected.
Answer was "Bluetooth is not turned on", but it was.
I tried several times with not success.
I returned it back to the store.

Did not work.

I called customer service 3 times for help with set up, so they sent me the email below saying there is a glitch in system.  Received email 3 days after electrician left and now have to call him back in order to follow these ridiculous instructions to set up camera!  Don't buy.

We have attached a file that will update the firmware for your camera.  Instructions on how to install the firmware are attached as well.  This should help your camera's connection during the installation process.

Please try performing the firmware update and then reset and try to install the camera again.  Make sure that you are within 10 feet of the camera during installation.  If you're on Android, then also make sure to turn off the Mobile Data setting on the phone during install.

If you are still not able to install the camera then try using the WiFi installation instructions below.

WiFI Installation Method  **This will only work if you installed the firmware**

Once you see the triple flashing light, open the WiFi settings for your phone and scan for networks.  You should see a network that starts with HD followed by 6 numbers (HD-XXXXXX).  Connect to this network and enter the password - 12345678.  This is the camera and you're connecting directly to the camera for this step.

Now open your SightHD app and it will prompt you to add a system.  On the next screen choose WiFi cameras instead of the doorbell camera option.  Your phone should find the camera and then take you through the setup process.

If you are on an Android phone then we also recommend disabling the Mobile Data option on the phone temporarily for the camera installation.

Very frustrated with instructions. Don't buy!

I returned it the very next day. It took forever to connect to Bluetooth, Then it disconnected and wouldn't re-connect. Great idea with self containment, but awful in operation. Don't waste your money or patience. These are knockoffs for a reason.

Awful product

I've had this doorbell less than 2 months and I've yet to get a notification on my iPhone.  I've tried to check my network and it's working well.  It's the doorbell that does not work every time.  So I tried deleting the app and  now I cannot remember my passcode and there is no where to find instructions on how to change the passcode.  I've spent almost 2 weeks trying to figure this out and it is impossible.  I'm just going to return this item.

Refuses to work properly

1. Mounting brackets are plastic, clunky and can only mount in specific positions relative to the door.
2. CanNOT get the app to connect to the doorbell.
3. Support for this item is sketchy and no help so far.
4. Waiting on firmware update to resolve....
5. Doorbell mounted but WORTHLESS at this point.
6. RETURNING doorbell soon and will update on THAT process afterwards.
