I have owned this salad spinner for years and have put it to the test, it works just as well as the day I bought it. I'm an avid gardener and grow leafy greens as much as I can. It fits a large portion of greens, sets into place easily, gets up to a quick spin speed with little effort and the brake button slows it down quickly. The non-slip base keeps everything set as you're working and it washes up quick and easy too. If my OXO salad spinner ever gave out, I'd definitely repurchase but there is no sign of that happening anytime soon!

This products is for all the salad lovers out there. Easy to and very gently on handles. The spinner gets all the “wetness” of a salad out so you get crisp crunchy veggies. Must have!

Great for salads

Love the spinner. Works great. I have owned it for years. HOWEVER, the lid being plastic cracked and no longer works and there are no replacement lids. I am not going to spend the money to replace the whole unit, just want a lid. Maybe you should set some aside for those of us needing to replace the lids. . . . . . . .

We had a salad spinner for a few years and unfortunately had a failure in the plastic basket. The new model is much improved and we use it every day as well. Keep up the great work.

Better than the previous model.

1. enclosed bowl, no need to stay in sink.
2. very easy to spin, no awkward crank.
3. adequate capacity for most occasions.

I like the steel bowl but wish the spinner was wire instead of plastic. We now know that plastic is toxic and that we should avoid using it in the kitchen (and everywhere else).

Steel salad spinner

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The plastic insert that the basket sits on is a bad design decision compared to previous versions that had the fulcrum built into the stainless steel bowl.

Older version was better without spindle insert.

Product arrived in good condition and is as described. However, it doesn't dry salad leaves, which is why I bought it. I don't know if it should spin faster, have more holes on the spinning bowl, or I should keep spinning the salad until my arms get tired. This is my first salad spinner and I really wanted to like it. Maybe salad spinners don't dry salad leaves. Knowing what I know now, I would skip the spinner and use a kitchen towel to blot my lettuce and spinach leaves.

Does not really dry salad leaves

There's been a very annoying redesign of a previously excellent item. The old version had a point built into the base of the bowl; the strainer spins on that point. The new version has a flat-bottomed bowl, with the pivot point built into a removable plastic disc which sits in the bottom of the bowl.

The problem is that the plastic disc traps food and liquid underneath itself, and has to be removed to get the bowl perfectly clean. Also, the disc falls out whenever the bowl is turned over, and is difficult to remove for cleaning—it's an entirely unnecessary complication.

A once excellent product ruined

Photo online shows the previous version, which was much better than this new version that I received instead.  This newer version of the salad spinner has a plastic insert spinner plate = more plastic.  This product seems to hold less lettuce.  Wish I could purchase the older version, which I really liked.  OXO definitely regressed in quality and functionality with this product.
