I have thin baby hair, so I can't use strong chemical which burn my hair and take long time to recover. But this perm is perfect for my hair; no burning, just right amount of perm, and even shin my hair after the perm. So I only use this perm for years now and use Normal to hard. Yet never burn my hair and perm last long time even I use medium size rods.

Ogilivie Perm

This particular brand of home perm is the one I prefer, due to my hair being thin and delicate.  If instructions are followed precisely, it gives a good result every time.

This perm was very "fresh"--I could tell by the strong smell when the chemicals were mixed together, plus the solution became warm very quickly as it was supposed to do.  

One caution:  I believe perms often sit on store shelves too long and become ineffective.  In the past I have had encountered 2 situations when they had to be returned because in one case, the too much of the chemicals had leaked/evaporated from the bottles because lids were not tight (although neither bottle will be COMPLETELY full at the beginning, allowing for mixing)-- and in another, they did not heat properly when mixed together.   I do wish an expiration date was located on the box!

Ogilvie home perm

I love this product.  I have used it for many years.  It has worked every time I have used it.  My hair is naturally flat and lifeless and yet very hard to curl.  I give myself a perm two or three times a year to give my hair body and volume.  My hair is short and so I use the smallest rollers/curlers.  It makes my hair very curly, but I use a curling iron so it is less curly but has more volume with the perm.  Just follow the directions exactly.  I don't check a curl during the perm anymore because I have used the product so long and I know that my hair needs the full time.   It also takes less time to perm my hair than some other brands that took 45 minutes.  So it saves me time.

My girlfriends hair at age 60 has thinned through her later years. She was told her previous hair color products dried her hair. They recommend this. Her hair is softer and easier to curl.

Easy to use.

I have thin, delicate hair and it is hard to curl. I have to leave the perm on for maximum time. It has never burnt or damaged my hair. I have used this product for years and it never disappoints.

Curls  without burning or damaging hair

I have curly hair and give myself a perm with really big rollers to relax the curl and frizz.  I've used Ogilvie for years.  It works well.  They used to have a perm with foam lotion which was wonderful; much better than the liquid waving lotion.  But this is all there is, the price was great, and love online ordering and store pick-up.

Good product

I have permed my hair several times over the years and I know what I'm doing when I do it. This perm seemed to take okay but as the day went along, my hair straightened out. I do have a tiny bit more volume but not much and certainly not enough to have gone through putting in a perm and not worth the expense. Extremely dissatisfied!

Precisely Right is Precisely a Waste of Time and $

I have more than 30 years of curling hair experience. I followed the instructions. I tried twice. Each time the hair was straight after curling, although the solution was warm. Time and money wasted.

It was totally not working.
