Can be clear and powerful, but may produce intermittent distortion.

I love my new Onkyo TX-8220 Stereo Receiver. All components that I could see and touch are very high quality. Other receivers and amplifiers that I owned had audio controls that introduced noise and internal loose connections that caused one channel to go mute. I had to bang on my previous receiver's volume control to un-mute the channel. The speaker wire connectors make a solid electrical connection, using a screw bolt and nut. Most receivers use unreliable spring-loaded tabs for the speaker wires that cause the spring to jump out of the mechanism. It has the required number of RCA inputs. The remote control is full of useful functions. Two improvements I would like: increase the power output and provide two line out RCA  plug stereo channels instead of one. I need to feed line-level stereo audio to a wireless headset unit and a cassette tape recorder.

This is definitely a great receiver i would recommend to anyone who wants to get up to four speaker output at one time with the option for a subwoofer to bass and treble go up to  7 and it sounds pretty good if you don't need a expensive home theater receiver this is a great option

Reasonably good sound, not quite as good as my old HarmonKardon, but very good for the price.

When I switch from one app to another sometimes it starts screeching and clicking. I did all the suggested trouble shooting  and even swapped out TV's it didn't help at all. I am in the prosses of returning it. This is a ONKYO TX-8220.
