I bought this because of the propane shortage. I had one and needed a second one to cover more area. These units put out a pretty good amount of heat for their size. They do have a fan which helps disperse the heat, but you can hear it run. So if you want quiet heat do something different. With both units running my propane furnace runs very little which was the goal. Hard to beat for the money and they put out more heat than some other units I have owned.

The over heating protection is garbage(unneeded)especially on a radiating heater since it causes the product to immeduiately shut off once it heats up/keeps going..this product would have been fine with out the saftey controol..Family Dollar charges has the same thing but cheaper made without the over heat control & folks have been using them for yrs..I bought Optimus cuz I have always liked their products & warrenty..

Garbage stuff from Optimus..1st time in 10yrrs

Heater= Very poor product it run for 1-1/2 min then shut down and was off for 4 min. before it came back on very poor results.

can't compare to sunbeam's radiant heater

This heater came to me already used. When plugged in it made so much noise and vibration. I boxed it up and carried it back the same day.

Heater is very loud and i was told it runs up your electricity bill.
