My metal garden art stakes were quite rusted when I pulled them out of the ground.  After cleaning with a wire brush, I used the Ospho on the rusty areas per product instructions.  The treated areas will turn black and prevent future rusting.  Be sure to follow instructions and wear gloves and protective gear.  Ospho is not compatible with latex paints, so I didn't try to use on my metal vent covers.

Awesome product

this is a great product and couldn't find it at Home Depot or Lowe's as they no longer carry it.  Converts rust to an iron phosphate that serves as a great base for paint
