I bought this as a gift.  However I have 2 of them of my own and use them for soap making.  I am a hobby soap maker so I only make A gallon or two of the product at a time. This stick blender works well.  I always follow the instruction and do not overwork it.  I have no problems with it overheating that way.  I have also used this stick blender for pureeing and smoothies since I do have 2 of them .  I designate each to it's purpose.  I like that it is on all one type of material and it is also easy to clean.  It is powerful enough for most anything I need it for and fits in my hand well.   A good stick blender for the price.   With all the other options out there I chose to purchase this one again.

I had one I had been using since 2006, and it just now stopped working. I needed a replacement of the same one and was very happy Walmart had it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I chose this Oster Immersion Hand Blender with variable speed, to have a different type of gadget in my kitchen for doing quick things.

It took me a while to figure out what I can do or make with it, with supplies I already had on hand. I didn't have any fruit available to use, so I improvised a bit.

With my teenaged granddaughter's help, we made up some chocolate smoothies! I used some hot cocoa mix, milk and ice and away we went. They were DELICIOUS too!

I will later on try it out on soups and sauces, but for now, seeing the smile on my granddaughter's face was priceless!

The Oster Immersion Hand Blender IS a pretty handy little gadget to have in a kitchen!

Great little gadget!

This is a powerful, and versatile blender! The Oster immersion blender will be kept right on my top drawer, so I can easily use it for every blending job. I have used it to make milk shakes, right in the cup I plan to serve it in! I have used it to make salsa, right in the bowl! I have used it to purée soup, right in the pot! The design is perfect, the blades are powerful. The second best thing to performance, is clean up. It practically cleans itself. No more washing my big blender, no more big blender taking up important real estate space on my counter. There's a new blender in town! I was given this blender as a sample to give an honest review, the views are my own.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First, this would make a great gift selection for anyone.

It is easy to grip and mix up from dry powder ingredients. It has an easy to use measuring cup with lid and can mix the product in it and store any extra for another use. Use for making creamy sauces or blending frozen fruits for smoothies. Helpful in blending veggies.

There are 2 speeds to blend plus a pulse blend. The unit has 250 Watt motor. The shaft can be removed for easier cleaning. Stainless Steel blades is another feature.

Haven't used it a lot, but so far it is doing really well.

Great for Fast mixing

Works as advertised. A little on the loud side, but I rarely have to run it more than a few seconds. Sleek looking, but feels a little awkward in my hand. Very basic white plastic design, so I keep it in a drawer. Good value for the money.

I love that it is plastic rather than the competition's metal one but sometimes the power is too much for the mixing cup that comes with it. It sometimes sprays on the machine itself and on my sleeve.

Great CHEAP Hand Blender and I've had for 3 years and works great BUT first time I used on thanksgiving to make gravy the plastic blade guard melted and deformed. Spend the extra and get the metal ones! Having trouble finding that part and looking like I'm going to have to buy a new one. (should have bought metal in the first place!)

You get what you pay for and the plastic melts

I purchased this in 2015. It is cumbersome. It leaves chunks of peas in my homemade split pea soup, the main reason I got it. I'm now ordering a Hamilton Beach that is only a dollar more and has a whisk and a bowl for chopping. It has good ratings for people with Arthritis so should be great for me. Don't waste your time with this one. The pad that has the speed buttons on it is a royal pain.

NotSoGreat

Upon initial purchase, this was my new favorite kitchen gadget. After a few months of occasional use for soups and smoothies, the housing stripped and the the blender did not work anymore. I figured that user error caused the problem, so I bought a second one just like it and promised myself that I'd be extra careful. I have been very careful for the last 6 months and yesterday, while blending a soup, the motor continued to buzz yet the blade would not turn. What a shame! I know that I will not be buying this model again and I hope that at least one of these purchases will be covered by the 3-year limited warrantee that Oster offers on some of their products...
