Had the previous version and we thought that buried all other smoothie makers including the Ninja--but this one surpasses it even further. Oster was the original "blender"  that i remember and every year they get better!! Yes its loud, but do you expect it to be quiet when it actually pulverizes ice?

I did some research on consumer reports which stated that this blender was the 3rd highest rated product they tested. Doesn't seem like much until you realize that the cost for #1 & #2 were in the $200-$300 range. I purchased our Oster for $70 and change.  Works very well, easy to clean,  and you also get 2 cups for smoothies. Best part of all is that my bride absolutely loves it...so here's hoping this Oster lasts as long as our previous blender; roughly 36 years.

I am new to making smoothies, so I did some research on power blenders and bullet machines.  My main focus during my research was to purchase a unit that would 1) function as more than making smoothies; 2) make smoothies with ease; and 3) fit within my budget.  The Oster Pro 1200 meets and exceeds all of my expectations...except for one very minor thing (below)!   The blender's function buttons are nice to have, and it looks nice on the counter.  As for power for smoothies, this baby has power!!  It has no problems breaking down fresh kale leaf/stems, fresh carrots, ginger root, and ice cubes into nice smoothies.  Ice cubes turn into very tiny, tiny, pieces of ice (like slushies).  IF you use frozen fruit for smoothies (which I tried and but I will go back to using fresh fruit), you WILL need to add extra liquid, otherwise the frozen fruit (though blended) will be VERY thick causing the blender to bog down.  

THE only thing I wish Oster would change, is to design the Smoothie Cups so they can fit in car cup holders.  (I like the fact that the Smoothie Cups are 24oz though).

All-in-All, I am very happy with my Oster Pro 1200, and I would recommend it to others.

Excellent blender!

I purchased this Make of blender because I owned an Oster before.  I have used this a few times now and I love the way it automatically pulses a few times before finishing liquifying the ice.

I takes less time to liquify the smoothie than the old one did.  I am very happy with it so far and would buy another down the road if this one lasts a reasonable time.

Agree is a powerhouse! Regards to crevice & trouble lining up reviews = i dont have these issues, but mine looks a little different than photos... {i use my tooth water pik to clean crevices}. My filler cap has hard to clean 'dimpled crease' . I did have to put blender cup in freezer when couldn't open{shrinkage of plastic}. Smelled like motor burning at first few times running, but went away= assuming was some excess motor oil. Turns ice cubes into snow. Makes creamy peanut/almond butter. Only goes dual directional on pre-programmed buttons, but they are ex cellant= do as they say. Have A Safe Day! PEACE

To start I like Oster products and have a few others in my house. This blender is by far better then any blender I have had, and I am rough on blenders, 3 in the past year with burnt motors from making smoothies 3 times a day.

THIS BLENDER WORKS AMAZING WITH ICE CREAM, AND WITH ICE MAKING SMOOTHIES. I have needed a good blender for a some time now. This is a test item I was sent to sample and I really like it. I work on a fire department and we bulk up while working out and this will get a lot of use. so far this is a awesome blender that I think I will by a few more for the station now too.

The best blender I have ever owned.

I just bought this blender combo and love it. use it every day. however, if you buy dont buy the milk shake attachment does not work with it. they need to make one that fits. however I do wish they had more different type of blades that would fit it.

Would have rated excellent but had to return first one to nearby Walmart because it came in not working condition.  Second one works like a charm. Very powerful, makes a great smoothie.  Love it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The adaptor piece for the food processor broke the very first time I used it. I chose this blender over many others because of the food processor, but now the food processor is useless.

I'm happy with the blender portion of this product, but I'm very disappointed overall considering it's now only a blender.

Blender Yes, Food Processor No

I bought this blender about one year ago. It does its job very well, even though it is really loud. I use the glass jar rarely, however, it's sturdy and has a nice size to blend larger amounts of fruit, vegetables, salsa, etc. Instead, I mostly use the smoothie cup for individual servings. Until about three months ago, I had no issues with it; it worked perfectly fine. I then noticed that the top rim of the smoothie cup had a large crack and that liquids started gathering inside the rim just below the screw part (see picture). I wasn't able to clean since the gap is too small. I contacted the Oster customer service via email, but in their response I was told that the cup is not covered by the warranty. So far so good, I thought I could live with a cracked top since it still worked fine except for an occasional leak. A few weeks ago, I then noticed that the blade started letting some of the liquids from the inside of the cup through to the bottom of the blade when blending. That creates a mess inside the power unit's top (where you place the blade) and the bottom of the screw top (see picture).
Overall, this blender does its job, but I'm disappointed of the quality of the aforementioned parts. I am considering replacing this blender with a different brand to hopefully get a better quality.
