The design is LESS THAN the safe case we purchased years ago. I've had my phone just a month and apparently dropped it later realizing it the screen now has a chip broken on the right side!! This model case (maybe all cases now days??) does not have a screen protector. We covered the screens to prevent scratches but never anticipated a chip & crack with the OtterBox in place! Time to switch brands.

Not What It Used To Be

I have relied upon and have enjoyed Otterbox for many years. It was the only phone protector for me. When I ordered and received the 16Pro defender case with clip, like every year, I was surprised and saddened to find that in my opinion the case is lacking the attention to detail I have come to expect. The Defender case doesn't cover the edge of the phone where the new camera button is on the right lower side of the phone. Before I received the Otterbox case I had another case temporarily that did have it covered and I dropped the phone and my glass protector cover cracked right there. I said to myself that i'm glad I had the glass on or it could have been my phone display glass and the Otterbox Defender case would not allow this to happen. So now I wait and see if Otterbox does a little research and maybe they will have an updated version soon. I will always buy Otterbox over any brand.

Defender 16 Pro case needs update

Nice case from otterbox but the cutout for the camera button leaves the screen exposed to damage. Already broke one screen protector and it's not super comfortable to hold in your hand. It would be nice if they had a non cutout version.

Camera cutout leaves screen unprotected

Iphone 16 pro, fatal flaw.  No protect to edge of glass front around the camera control button.  Cracked the edge of the glass and thus cracked across the face with a week.  After having previous otter boxes, never have i had this type of weakness and never have had an issue until this one.  Now inhave to get a new glass face for my phone.  As a fire fighter. There should not be any exposure to a glass edge.  Also phone only clips into belt clip upside down, one way only vs prior models

Totally disappointed

I've been using Otterbox for every iPhone I've ever own. So disappointed in the design for the iPhone 16 Pro with the camera button cut out. I am prone to drop my phone alot so I spend the extra money on a case to give my phone the extra protection it will need. However, that exposed camera button area will make my phone vulerable to break in that area. Most of Otterbox competitors have that area protected. Will have no choice but to return and start using a case from a competitor.

Disappointed iPhone 16 Pro Defender poor design

The approximately 1 inch gap for the Camera button has already generated a crack on My screen's protection Glass.. I have not even had the phone two weeks and have to replace the glass protection screen. I believe it's a design flaw. I've always been happy with my defender cases from OtterBox.

Design flaw

Otterbox does not back their product. I had unfortunately dropped my phone (from a short distance) and the screen STILL cracked with an Otterbox case. I think for the price one pays for this product, it should protect the phone. This is very frustrating!!!

FRUSTRATING

Exposed edge for the camera button leaves little be desired about the protection of the device. I am not happy w/ this purchase and will be looking for a more robust solution similar to previous defender editions. I am sorry otterbox went in a different direction, providing slimmer comfort over its defining protection.

My husband has been an otterbox defender series customer since the beginning of iPhones. Although they slowly faded on the rugged part over the years, they really completely dropped the ball on the iPhone 16 pro defender case as there is no “rugged” protection (or any protection, really) near the camera button, which leaves the screen/edge of the phone in this location completely exposed. He returned the case and purchased a pelican, which offers the same rugged protection that he used to love from otterbox defender.

Not what they used to be…

Very dissatisfied extremely unhappy this case has already broken in two places and having a opening like it does causes your cellphone to get damaged when it gets dropped by accident this needs to be relooked at on how to make it right a new designed is needed very sad not a happy customer and I love Otterbox also if you buy after market camera lens protectors you can not use because it legit won't fit a other disappointment

Unhappy

All of the quality that we expect from Otterbox. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is I do not like the open side around the photo button. Really leaves that area exposed to damage.
