great  when dont want to use  my big stove. it is good for  cooking for  1 or 2 people.   use mine almost every day and  cleaning is just wipe off with damp cloth.

Before making this purchase, I read the reviews first. Overall it seemed better than the reviews on the toastmaster burner. I've had burner for 4 months now and it's been great! 

The only issues I've had was at the very first few days, after burning off the coating on the burner per the included instructions, the top was still a little slick and whatever pan I put on (from stainless steel to cast iron) did slide a little. The other issue is now after 4 months of continuous use, the burner looks like it could be prone to rust. I plan to season it a little in the same way I season my cast iron skillet to see if it helps. Overall, I would recommend this. Just be careful with it- it is extremely hot once heated, so be sure it's placed well before using.

4 months in, and still going strong

It works great for what I purchased it for. The settings work wonderful and stay on the setting that I put it on.

My Ovente single burner cast iron hot plate lost so much power after a few boil-over mishaps that now I have to pour in boiling water to preheat it, put on the lid and wait, wait, wait for the heat to build up slowly. On the plus side, the heat also fades slowly when you turn it off. I like how pans don't slip around on the rough burner, which isn't coils but solid. Cord far too short to reach anything so I have to use an extension with a higher-than-usual rating and make sure nothing else is on that circuit.

Worked great at first

I've been using the kind of hotplate that has the metal coil as it's surface and pans slide off of it very easily and I've had some disasters. So I spent a little more ($5 maybe?) and got this one because the picture on website looked like maybe the surface would provide a bit of friction to help keep pans in place and it did say "cast iron" so that sounded promising. No such luck. The top is just as slippery as the coil kind. One other thing-- it seems like it takes this item a little bit longer to cool down which is not a good thing when you are herding cats around it in a camper. These are made to not last very long so next time I may just go back to the cheaper model. 
This one  heats up fine and does what you need it to do, so it's ok.

Does what you need it to do

The pictures show what happened the FIRST time I used it. I had a range with this type burners for 20 years and cast iron remained cast iron. This seems to be aluminum with a coating. I like that I can use my cast iron frying pans and the timing of the heating and cooling process was expected but very disappointed with the deterioration. Nothing spilled on the burner. The black on that area disappeared. VERY disappointed. My range came with a paste to use after washing burners  and it would make them shiny and new again. BUT THEY NEVER LOST THEIR CAST IRON.

They work ok but do not keep their highest temp constant.  They are good for boiling water or cooking fast cooking meals like fillet fish but for meats the cooking is much longer and you need to check if cooked all the way through as these do not hold a constant temperature but cycle on and off that allows the heating area to cool in between cycles.

They are ok but not for all cooking needs.

It takes a very long time to heat up and boil water.  Products looks really good, I'll use it some just disappointed in heat up time.

It wont boil water.  35 minutes now and it is just warm.   If you want a hot plate, you will need a time machine first.

This hot plate is a warming pad at best.

dont buy.  it smokes around the unit and melt stain your countertop. this is not UL certified.
