For the price, I wasn't expecting something that would last me forever, but this is solidly constructed and with care, it should last for a long time. The only reason it doesn't get five stars is because it arrived with small imperfections on the wood, and the crossbar at the bottom of the stool spins when you put your feet on it. I think that could be addressed in a redesign. Overall, it is just what I needed for my kitchen island.
