Owned a Panasonic UB820EBK (also Sony UBP-X800M2) and found this UB9000 build a big jump over the UB820 (Sony X800M2 is better than UB820 but UB9000 is best). Picture quality slightly improved over both. You notice some things are clearer and in darker scenes dust in the air and fine details stand out a little bit more. Also shadows just stand out a bit better. It's in the sound department I have noticed the biggest improvement either using an Amp with speakers or soundbar on it's own. Everything is clearer and volume doesn't need to be as high. Also vocals are slightly clearer but some mumbling actors nothing seems to help make their lines distinct. In all very happy with my purchase dispatch was sharp from Panasonic Store while the Courier notification was lacking but luckily I happened to be home. Is the extra cost for a UB9000 over UB820 justified I would say only just!
