Pandemic Indie Adult Board And Card Game

Everyone works as a team to stop the diseases instead of competing against each other.

Win or lose together

Gather a small group of friends or family to plan your strategy together.

Two to four players

Random setups and seven unique character roles mean no two playthroughs are the same.

New challenges every game

Add more epidemic cards to test your skills as your team gets better.

Change the difficulty

Cooperative Global Strategy: Work as an elite disease control team of two to four players to keep four deadly diseases at bay by treating infections and discovering cures.

Variable Player Abilities: Each player takes one of seven role cards, such as the Scientist who needs four cards of the same color to cure a disease, or the Dispatcher who can move other players' pawns.

Dynamic Game Challenges: Face outbreaks that spread diseases and random epidemics that intensify diseases, requiring clear communication and precise planning.

Replayable Scenarios: Different cities are infected at the beginning of each game, and expert players can increase the chances of epidemics for added challenge.

Find the cure
From designer Matt Leacock, Pandemic is a cooperative game of teamwork for two to four players. As members of an elite disease control team, you must keep four deadly diseases at bay. Work together as you travel the globe to treat infections while collecting the cards you need to discover a cure for each disease. But the clock is ticking as outbreaks and epidemics fuel the spreading plagues. As a cooperative game, players win or lose together. Only by working together can you keep the outbreaks in check and find the cures in time!

Avert global disaster
With diseases cropping up all over the planet, Pandemic takes place on a global scale. Over the course of the game, players use actions to move between hotspots while treating diseases and setting up a network of research stations that help them cure diseases and make movement more efficient. Each player manages a hand of cards matching the colors of the four diseases. These cards allow them to travel more quickly between cities or - if a single player can collect five cards of the same color - discover a cure for a disease. But plenty of challenges stand in their way. Outbreaks can spread diseases across the board and random epidemics can intensify a disease in a moment's notice. It'll take everything you've got to keep things under control.

A unique set of skills
Whether there are two players or four, everyone must work together applying their various skills to benefit the team - and the world. To that end, at the start of the game, each player takes one of seven role cards that grants a special ability. The Scientist, for example, only needs four cards of the same color to cure a disease, and the Dispatcher can move other players' pawns as their own. Each role opens new possibilities and syncs with the other roles, so players can devise new strategies to help the team most effectively.

Save the world
In addition to the roles, there are other ways to add variety to every game of Pandemic. Different cities are infected at the beginning of each game, presenting a new challenge every time. Assembled Product Dimensions (L x W x H)

Four diseases have broken out in the world and it is up to a team of specialists in various fields to find cures for these diseases before mankind is wiped out. Players must work together playing to their characters' strengths and planning their strategy of eradication before the diseases overwhelm the world with ever-increasing outbreaks. For example the Operation Specialist can build research stations which are needed to find cures for the diseases. The Scientist needs only 4 cards of a particular disease to cure it instead of the normal 5. But the diseases are out breaking fast and time is running out: the team must try to stem the tide of infection in diseased areas while also towards cures. A truly cooperative game where you all win or you all lose.

Educational Value

For Families

Instruction Clarity

Ease Of Play

Ideal for collaborative activities and group play.

Instructions are easy to understand for beginners.

Players collaborate to achieve shared objectives.

Pandemic is easily one of the best cooperative games out there. It's super easy to learn, but every turn feels tense as outbreaks start spreading across the board. You really have to work together with your group to pull off a win, and even when you lose, it almost always ends with everyone wanting to reset the board and try just one more time. A total staple for game night!

Awesome co-op game. Still an absolute classic!

walmart.com

I had my reservations about getting a cooperative play game, but my husband had been interested in them and so when a friend who knows we collect board games gave us a gift certificate, this was at the top of the list.

It's a little bit complicated, but once you understand the rules, it makes a lot more sense and you have an "aha!" moment. Time flies as you and your fellow players use your game-given abilities to try and cure all of the infections before the game ends and you lose. There are many ways to lose and only one way to win. The instructions are somewhat vague in places, but a quick trip to the boardgamegeek site helped us immensely.

If you're wanting something different to play with your friends- or even playing solo and alternating between two characters as more of a puzzle than a game- Pandemic is a great way to break out of the mold. And once you've mastered the basic game, there are expansions with new roles. The best description I can come up with is that it's like Risk, except instead of fighting other players, you're fighting the board together.

We've only had the game a week or so, but we love it already. Even our "I hate games" foster daughter loves it and asks to play. We sneak education in there by pointing out different continents and oceans and things as part of the directions on where someone needs to go.

Very Good Game!

First, for those that don't know, this is a new edition of the game. There is an older version that is not so streamlined in artistic design or component quality, but you should know it exists so you can compare the two and see which you like better. This updated version will be preferable to most people.

This game's greatest characteristic is that it manages to land squarely on all the points that make a game great. Quality components of a manageable size and quantity that function intuitively. The game is easy to learn but still presents a fair challenge to the players; it does not scare newcomers away by being confusing or by pummeling them into the ground the first time out. Long-time gamers will also find the game engaging and challenging, as there are a decent number of decisions to be made and good replayability due to randomness and multiple playable characters with varying special abilities.

The theme of the game rides the line between fantasy and realism, appealing to a wide range of players because it's plausible, yet dramatic, extreme, and improbable. The idea of a worldwide pandemic is extremely distasteful and prevented me from buying the game for a long time, but ultimately this consideration falls by the wayside because the game doesn't drive home the uncomfortable nature of the theme by drumming up fearful scenarios and images; the viruses don't even have names, just colors.

I also don't typically enjoy games with realistic themes (realistic = mundane, to my mind), but the theme is not so deeply immersive that you're forced to face it continuously, and the gameplay is engaging and rewarding enough to far outbalance any negative thematic considerations.

This is a game for everyone, plain and simple. Reasonable rule set, play length and component quantity; fun and engaging, broadly appealing, quality production, highly portable - leaves nothing to be desired.

Its popularity is warranted - a hit on all fronts!

I absolutely have become addicted to this game! I love the fact that it is a cooperative game where it is you (and your friends) against the board. Also the multiple role cards and nature of play means that no two games are alike! I found a few YouTube videos that made it easy to understand the set up and play right from the beginning. Just make sure it is a video for the basic game and not for one of the many expansion packs ( and yes, I already bought all the expansions too!). This game can also be played solo and proves to be just as fun! Enjoy!

So much fun!

My husband and I love to play this game. It's pretty easy to learn and each game is different. We both love the fact that it's a co-op game. Every game is different so there is lots of replay ability. It keeps you on the edge of your seat. We have played it in big groups and small groups with kids and adults and have always had fun.

great game

This board game is more advanced than your standard party games (i.e. The Game of Life, Guesstures, etc.). The rules are a bit more involved and its format is different than a standard competitive game. Players play with each other against the board instead of competing against one another. Do not be fooled, however: the board is merciless and it will take multiple playthroughs before you successfully beat it. So it's a perfect game if you like working together with friends towards a goal and like a challenge.

This is one of my all-time favorite games. I also highly recommend the expansion "On The Brink" for players interested in extending the rules further.

Pandemic - a *great* cooperative game!

This game hand my friends and I on the edge of our seat for a hour. We spent it debating the best possible moves and outcome and still were puzzled on what to do. We never like a board game so much in such a short amount of time.

A very thoughtful and compelling game

Very fun game, satisfyingly challenging! the cards wear out easily in our experience (chipped corners, peeling graphics), but are still usable. Game mechanics are brilliant, very realistic to an actual disease. Tons of fun for us young adults!

Great cooperative game!

My family absolutely loves this game! First, it's great that you work together as a team to beat the virus, as opposed to competing against each other. Second, the game itself is very well-thought-out. For example, each player has different special abilities. There are event cards that give you additional special abilities. If an outbreak happens in one city it infects the cities immediately surrounding it.

Great family game!

Great, challenging, adult cooperative family game. All players, although they take separate turns and make their own moves and decisions, compete together to beat pandemics around the world. Fun but challenging family board game.

Pandemic Indie Adult Board And Card Game centered front view of the boxed set with the Pandemic logo, visible world map board with colored disease cubes and four player pawns, role and player cards and rulebook arranged to show cooperative play, strategy and cure-finding elements. Often used for 2–4 players collaborating to treat infections and discover cures.
