[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] With the holidays coming, I was excited to try the KitchenAid pastry beater for Bowl-Lift stand mixers.  However, when I finally had the time to make pie crusts, the KitchenAid Bowl-Lift pastry beater did not fit properly in my KitchenAid mixing bowl.  I fit on the shaft of the mixer arm but the beater was not centered in the bowl.  I should have looked closer at what mixers it was compatible with as the model I have KSM5PSWW was not listed on the box.  I just assumed that because it said it was for bowl-lift stand mixers that it would work on my mixer.  I have had my mixer for  over 20 years (Yeah, Kitchenaid!!) and did not think they would have changed their mixer, but my mistake!  I am sure that it works perfectly with the correct model of mixer as Kitchenaid makes innovative and quality products.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this beater a couple weeks ago and I will tell you it's really great. I bake alot, so I need a lot of tools. This particular tool helps out a lot with cakes and pastries. Definitely recommend it really because of the coating on the beater. Seems to do really well.

Great beater

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was excited to try this blade out as making pie crusts, scones, and flaky dough bases used to be a 2 bowl process.  First using a food processor and then mixing the dough together in my mixer or on the counter.  The pastry beater is able to break down shortening and butter so you can do everything in one bowl.



I do find the blade doesn't cut down butter as evenly as does a food processor, but it gets it pretty close.  I just make sure to start with smaller pieces of butter.  I like that this blade has a non stick coating so it rinses off pretty well.  The extra lines across does mean more dough pieces can stick to the blade, but overall still an improvement to the process!  I'm glad to have this in my toolkit.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The pastry beater is so easy to use. It is no hassle to attach to the mixer and also to remove. It is perfect for cake batter and cookie dough. Makes butter and sugar very fluffy for perfect cookies. One tip is when flour is added only mix until flour is incorporated as over mixing may make cookies tough.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the beater.  It is heavy grade high quality steel, and attached like any other KitchenAid attachment.    I used it make chocolate chip cookies.  These cookies turn out better if you use cold butter, I dropped the whole stick in and it mixed it.  The mixer folded it in quickly and easily.  I also used this to shred left over cooked chicken for tacos.  It saved me a lot of time.  And allowed me to mix my seasons in with the chicken more evenly.  Thank you KitchenAid for making another great product.

Sturdy Cuts like butter

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I do a lot of baking year round and this pastry beater has proven itself to be a handy tool to have around for my KitchenAid stand mixer. I have used it a few times now to make perfectly flaky, soft pie crusts. It does a great job of cutting through the cold butter. It fits perfectly, comes very close to touching the bottom and sides of my stainless steel mixer bowl, mixes ingredients beautifully. It has a slick non-stick coating that my doughs slide right off of, and also includes a scraper to easily clear off any remaining dough that may be clinging to the beater. Just like all of my other KitchenAid attachments and appliances, I expect this beater will last for many, many years.

Handy tool!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We recently got a KitchenAid pastry beater. In the box you get instructions, a batter scraper, and the beater itself. All are KitchenAid quality and result in a quality pastry. The beater itself is well made and had no problems attaching to our KitchenAid mixer. The beater bars are well-spaced and resulted in a perfectly mixed batter. I'd definitely recommend purchasing it (but, make sure you have a model, listed on the packaging, that is compatible with this mixer). After all, not all KitchenAids are the same. ;)

A Great Pastry Beater

I make biscuits a lot (it's against Southern law not to) and the worst part is cutting the butter with a pastry cutter. It's the one reason my husband never helped. We got this little baby and he makes himself biscuits every day now! He may find out he doesn't need me if KitchenAid keeps coming up with brilliant ideas like this. Don't make it easier to make Croissants and pasta, well, maybe an inexpensive sheeter for croissants, because I will be rendered useless then!

An answer to a prayer I never knew I had

I have not yet purchased this "pastry beater".  First of all because one does NOT beat pastry. Pastry dough if made by CUTTING the shortening into the flour, using blades where handwork is not desired. The vanes on this item, both central and perimeter, ought to be blades.  So the, secondly because I am not at all convinced that it works.  The 20 second video on this site of the paddle "in use" is completely inadequate. Thirdly, because my experience with coated Kitchen Aid dough hooks and paddles leads me to expect that the coating will come off.  Bit by bit, during use. Stainless steel would be less of a concern.
For those other reviewers who found it easy to attach, well, good for them.
