A local Indian food place by me, lured me in with their curry smells. But sadly the only curried items they had were, 'game' meats which I detest. So I tried their other offerings. Chicken Tikka Masala and Butter Chicken, both oddly greasy but it tasted great at first. 

My second time didn't taste as good as the first time I tried it and the 3rd time, well that is when I decided I'd no longer order from that restaurant. Their consistency change drastically each day from good to horrible. I could probably make it myself if I had the recipe. But that would mean stocking my cupboard with specialty ingredients just to make Tikka Masala and Butter Chicken.

After trying about a dozen different commercial Tikka blends I settled on this one. It tasted as surprisingly good like the first time I had it at the local Indian take-out. And now it is my staple base sauce I keep on hand. Much easier to put a few bottles into the cupboard than to buy the various ingredients required to make those sauces. 

Plus as an endorsement, my Indian friends tell me it is pretty authentic to how it is made back home. So that there is an excellent selling point. 

Out of the bottle it is soo thick I can almost hold it upside down with nothing falling out.... almost. It falls out slowly as large chunks which I pour over browned chicken, stir fried vegetables and even Saffron Rice to let it all simmer in the pot for a one-pot meal solution. So I'm not sure why a reviewer claimed it was runny. All mine have been thick right out of the bottle. So thick I can add water to rinse out the bottle and pour it into the pan to thin out the sauce so it won't burn when I simmer it.

A wonderful challenger to take-out Indian food

Really great cheater, bought this, tin of chickpeas, fried up onion, green and red peppers and added the jar sauce and then chickpeas… really great cheat for channa masala and I bought the WM samosas too

Great sauce base

The captain needs his head checked. This sauce is so thick - out of the jar even inverted I had to send a spoon up to dig it out. After scraping as much as I could, I filled the jar to half with hot water. Put the lid back on and gave it a good shake to clean it out for recycling purposes. The now watered down solution, I simply put that into the pot to help turn it into a simmering sauce. 

After 20-30 mins of simmering 6 deboned and cut into cubes chicken breasts the sauce was still quite thick like a beef stew. So to finish my one-pot-meal, I turned off the heat. Then I dumped frozen peas and stirred. Let sit for 10 minutes and the once frozen peas are now defrosted and help cool the hot stewed chicken so we can eat immediately. I served it with long grain white rice.

Inverted it doesn't fall out of the bottle...

If you are a South Asian and you don't like cooking or you want a different taste for your chicken curry. Buy this, its spicy and gives a different taste to the flavour of the chicken curry. I used this in addition to the normal spices to make chicken curry. Usually when i cook, I cook for a week meal. Best for students and workers. Love it.

Handy to have on hand although I expected it to be a little more lemony. Still a nice flavour with chicken.

I used it in 1 pack if brar malai paneer. easy to make . but too much of cumin flavour ruins the taste. there is no tikka flavour or texture. not at all spicy .I had to add onion chillies and all. average flavour. they should add some tandoori flavour in it as it says tikka
