I love this yarn. Everything about it. The feel, the look, the color, how easy it is to work with and how the project is coming along. I will definitely buy other colors!

Wool is the way to go for the winter

Yarnspirations.com

Very happy with this yarn for all my felting projects. So far I have knit and felted several slippers and one pair of boot liners. Very impressed with the results. I will be making more slippers and will make mittens as well.

great for felting

I purchased this wool to make a winter cardigan and it is amazing! The color is beautiful. The wool is warm and lightweight and knits up easily.

Love this wool!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The quality of this wool is top notch. The colours are vibrant and matches what is shown online. I love house soft this wool is.

Love the Softness

I've been working with this yarn for years and absolutely adore it! Unfortunately it's become very hard to find. I make lots of fulled or felted winter accessories, such as fingerless gloves, slippers, and mittens, and this yarn is perfect. I hope it's not being discontinued!

Wonderful to work with and felts beautifully!

consistently great quality lightly spin wool , easy to shop

Great product, easy purchase

The wool was used to make very warm donated hats for unhoused people

Wool for winter hats

I love this yarn. I knitted an Aran sweater for my grandson. It turned out beautifully.

Fabulous wool yarn

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] An interesting material to work with. Halfway into my first skein on an undershirt project I was grumbling to myself a lot about the way the "yarn" would range from super thick to super thin, over and over again. I was about to complain to the seller when I noticed the odd name of it on the wrapper: "Patons Classic Wool Roving". It doesn't say "yarn". I looked for the word "roving" in my dictionary and voilà, its a pre-yarn, it's a continuous strand of loosely twisted and drawn wool, ready to be spun (American Heritage Dictionary). No more complaining. I got what I paid for, being an uninformed purchaser.
Even so, I am happy with my project. It has a lot of interesting spots that draw the eye, like black hairs in the wool, lumps of white hairs that are tangled into the roving, thin spots, thick spots. I use a 6mm hook.
I would suggest to debutant crocheters to complete a few other projects first with yarn for their learning curve. Learning how to crochet with this roving would be too frustrating. But for people who crochet in their sleep, it can be satisfying, provided they enjoy incongruity.
A few other reviewers mentioned using it for felting: that makes sense.
If I can edit my review after completing my project, I'll add some photos.
My project, when done, will be an incredibly warm undershirt, perfect for living in the coming Ice Age when we can no longer afford energy and find ourselves freezing in the dark. The things I can imagine while crocheting, eh!

"Roving" is a pre-yarn with inconsistent thickness

Cindy

Not impressed with this roving yarn. Such inconsistencies with thickness from thread thin to super bulky. In some places it barely hold together and breaks apart very easily. Really liked the colour natural but cannot use the yarn. Poor quality!

Not good roving yarn!
